Ladies question...do you wear your engagement ring to bed? I heard you shouldn't. Something about the 5 S of not wearing an engagement ring...shower, shore, sleep, don't know the other 2. What do you all do?

I can't say I have any real routine for when it's on or off... I am still getting used to having it... I do seem to take it off when I shower, but not at night. I took a trip to Mexico and left it at home and missed it terribly...
I have heard of the 5 S's thing... I can't recall them now but I as I recall them it was more geared towards costume / fashion jewelry that might tarnish or show wear faster...
I take my rings off to sleep. My hands swell when I sleep, and rings are very uncomfortable if I wear any. Also, the outermost prongs for my side stones on my e-ring tend to snag on stuff, so I'd rather my sheets stay nice and not needing to worry about my rings.
I take mine off for showering, sleeping, cooking, cleaning, out on the farm with the horses, working out and anything else outdoorsy like gardening or going shooting. Better safe than sorry with it.
I take mine off to sleep and just put it in the ring box by my bed. I also take it off when showering, doing dishes, mixing food with my hands etc. I don't take it off at the gym though.
I take mine off to shower, clean, and workout, other than that it stays on. Obviously, you wouldn’t wear it to the beach or somewhere it could be lost forever but on a daily basis it stays planted on my finger.
I wear mine all the time- shower, sleep, sweat, etc. The only times I might take it off (if I think about it) is gardening, cleaning with harsch chemicals, and maybe at the beach. Even the , I wear a chain around my neck, and I put it on my chain until I finish the task and then put it back on my hand.
I take mine off and put it on with the rest of my jewelry. So generally shortly after I get home from work. I don't wear it anywhere I don't typically wear other jewelry -- gym, beach, shower, etc. The only exception is if I'm just going out to run errands I'll usually put my ring on but no other jewelry.
It's never occurred to me to take it off when cooking or doing dishes, but maybe I should start.
I really only take it off to do dishes, and shower. Sometime if I am cooking, depending on what it is.

Mine is a double halo and the setting is a bit more fragile than a solitaire. I move a lot when I sleep and would 100% smash it on the headboard. I put it on a ring holder. At home, I take it off to cook and clean and shower. I also don’t wear it to the beach, to the gym, or to international locations where I am uncomfortable with locals seeing it.
I take my ring off as soon as I get home. I don't wear it when I sleep, when I clean, when I go to the gym, when I shower, when I cook, or when I'm just hanging out around the house. I can't wear it when I sleep because I try and take it off in the middle of the night when I'm sleeping and it gets uncomfortable (it's weird, I do the same thing with my retainers...yes I still wear my retainers haha). I caught myself doing that a few times and it freaked me out so I won't wear it at night anymore.
Shower, Shore, Sleep, Sweat, and Soap?? Scrub?? Sauté?? I feel like the 5th "S" needs to be cleaning or cooking related!
My rings are the last thing I put on before leaving home, and the first things I take off when I get home - but that's just because of my normal jewelry routine! When I get home I put up my hair, take off my jewelry (put my rings in my ring dish), and change into something comfy right away
I also just can't sleep with my rings on! Since I'm not used to that it feels really weird and distracting. The only time I wish I could sleep with them on is when I'm traveling!
I've only been engaged a few months and had the same question. I have been taking mine off to sleep because I want the diamond to stay really sharp and beautiful and didn't want to risk it getting banged up. I would hope I'm not swinging my arms in my sleep but who knows!? I also take it off to shower, work out, cook, swim, or do anything messy. My fiance bought me a really beautiful engraved ring box for Christmas so it's kind of a nice touch. I'm planning to wear my wedding band full time (not getting it fused) since I am active and do a lot of activities that could damage my engagement ring (horse back riding, surfing, yoga, etc).
I never take my ring off unless I'm mixing meat or coloring hair .. I think you should be fine showering with a diamind .. if you have a different stone that's not as sturdy it would be different. I sleep with my ring .. honestly I think my fiance would be insulted if I took my ring off alot lol
