Engagement party Venue?!

Kate, on November 22, 2019 at 11:00 PM Posted in Michigan Planning 0 4

So we decided against the traditional "showers". The idea of the corney games and people watching us open gifts is really not us so our parents want to throw us an engagement party instead but want us to choose a venue! We are really struggling to decide on a place because we wanted to use a friends catering business for our food. We looked at VFW and community center halls but often we would have to bring in our own chairs and tables or they are in a state of disrepair or just wouldn't work out for some reason or another. We'd love any suggestions or ideas for venues, especially if you know of a location in Metro Detroit that could work!

My friend had hers in her back yard and another friend her parents house. Both were nice (my omr friend went all out... Thought it was a wedding lol). Doesn't need to be formal.

Have you consider doing it at a family or friends house? I had my engagement party at my MOH’s house and it was beautiful. We had to rent tables but we did a cocktail concept setting. Another option is a club house from a complex or park in your area.

Hey Kate! What is the guest count roughly for your engagement party?

The home of a family member or friend would be able to work if there was somewhere suitable. If it is a large number, you may have to consider renting tables and chairs just so that everyone can fit comfortably. I would recommend pricing chair and table rental for a community hall, as it still may be cheaper than renting out an established venue with tables and chairs included.

I've never heard of you having to bring in chairs to community centers or VFW halls. I called a ton of them when looking for my wedding venue and all had them. We had our wedding at the Woodhaven community center and they had tables and chairs We could bring in our own food and drinks. We had to set up the tables and chairs but they were there. Of the VFW and UAW halls I called all of them had tables and chairs
