Engaged in your home

Crystalyn, on April 3, 2020 at 12:31 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16
Did anyone get engaged in your house? FW and I are pre engagement planners. We were going to take turns proposing to each other, because I believe every girl deserves a proposal.

Anyway, restrictions started getting loftier as time went on, and proposal plans kept having to get shifted. We lost all public locations, and now we’re wondering, should we get engaged in our home?
What at home engagement experiences have you had?

My wife proposed in our living room. A friend stopped by while we were out to dinner and decorated with flowers, balloons, candles, the whole nine yards. It was super sweet and intimate and perfect for us.

My FH proposed at our home. It was great, he made my favorite dinner and then we were just watching TV and he asked me. I didn't want a proposal outside, in front of a lot of people. So it was perfect for me/ us.

FH proposed in our living room on Thanksgiving. He woke me up to come down stairs (I work 3rd shift), handed our daughter a red box that he made for her to hand it to me. He made the box out of posterboard, stuffed a teddy inside with a typed note expressing his gratitude, then when I pulled my teddy out, there was the ring and "will you marry me" at the bottom. It wasn't how I imagined, but it was cute and unexpected!

We got engaged at home. He got up early and made breakfast. When I woke up it smelled amazing and he was coming into the room to bring me coffee. He handed me the coffee and asked me to marry him. Then we had pancakes!

I would definitely recommend a home engagement, preferably with a delicious meal to share. Or, if you have a yard, you could plant flowers together after you propose to each other?

We got engaged at home. My husband and I were planning out the next few years of our lives (I got accepted into grad school and was leaving my job), and we decided that we should get married within the next year or 2. The following day, we told our families. He did surprise me with a ring a bit later, but I wouldn't change our engagement in any way.

He proposed at home. I came home from grabbing Starbucks and he was crouched next to my dog in the kitchen across from me. Apparently, he'd taught my 10-year-old dog my name over the past few months for this moment. He said to my dog "go see Julie," and he trotted over with the ring on his collar. Best. Proposal. Ever.

DH proposed at our friends' NYE party, in their apartment. So, in someone's home.

It was sweet, it was during a game, totally saw it coming a mile and a half off, annoyed everyone by demanding to know if it was happening... everything was decorated for the holidays, friends were there, they took video...

Loved it. He'd always said he wanted friends and/or family around, and I said I wanted something kind of public, but neither of us wanted a truly public proposal. This was a good compromise.

Yes and it was perfect! Completely shocked. We went to a friends house for dinner, while we were there his sister set up all the stuff at our house on the mantel, (decorations) he had shipped to her house, flowers, light up marquee letters that spell “marry me”, the dog’s bow ties and signs. surprised because I just felt like a normal Friday summer night until I walked in the house.

    Hi!
My Fiancé had this plan of proposing to me at my parents house with them there, well that was at the beginning of all the pandemic. My dad was sick with (confirmed) pneumonia, so we were not able to go see them that weekend. My mom advised us not to. So instead he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him in his truck in a bank empty parking lot. Of course everyone wants to have a special proposal, but I feel that location and “extras” shouldn’t define how you feel about someone or how they feel about you. I say go for it and do what ya’ll want to do! In the end if you really wanted that “picture perfect” moment. Just recreate it! We did that too!🙈

P.S. this isn’t a neighbors house, and hours after the actual proposal lol #noshame

My fiancé proposed in the kitchen and it was perfect. I had my back turned and had no idea whatsoever that when I turned around he’d be on one knee.

He proposed to me twice. Once casually in the car in the way home from the train station, then two weeks later he got down on one knee and proposed in our kitchen with a ring.
