Email help. Common last name!

ArizonaDreaming, on September 24, 2017 at 11:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 30

FH has one of the most common last names ever. I have tried everything combination of initials, wedding year, birthday, etc. and EVERYTHING is taken!

Those that are taking common last names, what ideas or option do you suggest?

I currently have a common last name and can't wait to take my FH's. I use my first name dot my middle name.

Dumb question... Why do you need a new email?

@JoRocka - It is a legit question. A dumb question is a question left unasked.

@jorocka, she may be wanting a new email to use for her wedding vendors, so she doesn't lose their correspondence in her junk mail. It's a nice way to keep the wedding stuff organized and separate. I did this and like it because I know when there is an email in there, it's an actual email and not advertisement.

OP, have you tried incorporating your venue's name or venue style? For example, our hashtag is #LastNameMountainWedding you can do LastNameBeachWedding@ or LastNameBarnWedding@ or incorporate your theme BlueLastNameWedding@

I am a divorcee. I kept my ex's last name. My first and HIS last name is my current email. I want a new email address with my new name. I will be using that email for older things and less important stuff, but I want this new email to go hand in hand with my future and our planning.

I don't think it's surprising or the slightest bit unusual to get a new email address for this reason. It's kind of an unofficial part of the name change process. Even without a painful divorce in one's past, you would still want your current name reflected instead of your old one.

Did you try first.middle.last? If that's unavailable, how about your profession? first.last.accountant (or whatever you do for a living)?

We made up our own new last name out of parts of our original names, so we had no issues getting first.last@ gmail

I have a super common last name and a super common first name, and I recommend adding a middle initial or a random series of 3 numbers. Another option is including your profession. If John Smith was a writer, his could be ************@********.***. Or *************@********.***. Hope this helps!

I use firstinitial . or _ then lastname. Maybe a zip code, or area code of you want numbers. Possibly your pet name with the last name?

I don't see why people are questioning your new email.. if your current one is your maiden name, why would you not want to change it..? I feel it would confuse people

My email is the first letter of my first name, full last name and the year I graduated high school. I'm going to make a new one when I'm married. My last name is super German and no one can ever pronounce or spell it so it think it will be confusing as an email when I become Robyn Urban.

I'm just lazy and I changed literally nothing. So I am unsure as to why people add new things if the one they has works already unless it's something like ***********@*****.***

    Then. Well. Change away.

As far as spam emails for wedding things you fully support that. I have three emails and one specifically as spam for wedding shit and shopping.

It's just an email address. I have three that are linked to the same inbox. Plus a junk email on the side.

What about like firstinitial.middleinitial.lastname or first.maidenlast.marriedlast

No. I didn't. I actually have no idea what people change when they change their names, meaning the extent of how much gets changed or why.

Lies. I did change my fb name. We talked about combining, but we are too lazy to go through the process... But because of work issues I changed it. But. That's like the most low level changes and completing invalid lol.

As of now I'm not changing my email address post wedding. The one I use now is what I use for all my important things. Changing it with EVERYTHING would be so time consuming, and a risk of missing something.

@OP did you try spelling your name out like I did? I tried a few times until I was able to find one that wasn't taken. Who knew Bennis was somewhat popular?

What about wedding date? JaneSmith54@? JRSmith5419? Or maybe the mmdd of your birthday? Or if your birthday is two digits as well (like Jan 5), you could do birthday and wedding JaneSmith1554?

For Gmail (at least), using . or not is irrelevant so punctuation may not help you
