Elopement vs Wedding

Cristal, on April 2, 2021 at 8:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hello ladies! I recently got engaged, and I am not a planner at all! Also, I hate the thought of hiring an event planner to do all the work because I am also very particular. For those who eloped, ‘Was it worth it,’ ‘If you could do it again, would you do the wedding instead?’ tenor.gif

    Congratulations!!!
We didn’t hire a planner, but our wedding is very small and low key with a lot of DIY. We found that the venue owner (small venue) was so happy to help give advice and tell us how other weddings were done tonight wise, etc. it was guidance without any pressure. I let other people handle other details with no worries or much input- my SIL did diy flowers and my BIL is my DJ. It’s stressful like hosting a large Christmas party but not impossible on a small scale.
This site wasn’t ideal for me- I bought a planning binder ($50) and that’s been a big help and might’ve been good to get time through a larger event too.

Thank you Victoria! Congrats to you as well! It is definitely stressful. Do you recommend any specific binder, I’ve been thinking about ordering one myself?

Save your money. Get a blank 3 ring binder from Target. Print out the free wedding planning template from GoogleSheets (also accessible on your phone) along with plastic page dividers where you can store paint chips of your colors, fabric swatches, contracts/brochures, etc. Everything you need under $20.

In response to your “wedding vs elope” question...I wish we would have eloped. Granted, my perspective is probably biased (I’m in my mid 30s, we’ve already been together for 6 years and lives together for 4, and then an already long engagement with 2 covid postponements thrown in....) but if I could do it over again I’d elope. We are having a very small wedding soon and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, but I have not enjoyed the planning process one bit. now that I’ve had so long to think about this wedding and what’s truly important (to me, at least) and the amount of money we spend (as a whole society) on just a few short hours of celebration makes me sick haha. Everyone will have their different opinions, but if you are considering eloping, I’d say go for it.

Jodie, my partner and I have also lived together for a few years now. I have always wanted to elope, just within the last two yrs I started to obsess over a wedding. This is definitely taking me back to my initial thoughts. Thank you for your advice!

Looks like the planner got cheaper!! Michelle’s idea is great though, to make your own. That way it can be exactly what you need. I just decided to modify what I got. Elopement vs Wedding 1

I just got engaged about a month again and planning a wedding for this October, yes I know it’s soon but we just want to be married already and COVID definitely setback all our plans. I’m definitely feeling the planning stress and the groom is stressing about the $$. Now we’re thinking of eloping in 2 weeks! I’m excited cuz I want to start my life with my fiancé but a little sad that a lot of friends and family won’t be there. Overall I think it’s better for my current budget and maybe in a year we’ll just throw a party to celebrate with friends

Late on this post .. but I totally am starting to shift thoughts . Maybe it’s my age range , or being engaged already 2 years and having lived together — my thoughts of all this money for one day and the stress of $$ plus planning kinda making me lean towards eloping . Just don’t know if I will miss out on the traditional experience .

I don't have any advice, but I am also having this debate and truly can't decide!
