Elopement venues in California

Janine, on January 20, 2021 at 6:27 PM Posted in California Planning 1 20
Our wedding has been delayed 2 yrs now due to the pandemic and we've decided to elope so we don't have to change the date on all the wedding stuff a 3rd time. We're looking for a private just me and the groom venue to get married. Does anyone have any recommendations on venues that are not too expensive? We've decided to still have the major event with family and friends at a later date so, We're just looking to elope and take some beautiful photos.

I live in Northern CA (SF Bay area) but would be willing to go to Southern CA as a weekend getaway. So either is fine as long as I can take some beautiful photos.

I’d recommend a National Park. If you’re up north I’d say the Redwoods! If in Southern CA I’d recommend Joshua Tree. I’ve seen some beautiful elopements and microweddings at state/national parks.

I guess I should mention that the date is June 19th. So, everyone is aware.

I agree with either a National Park or a beach. Lake Tahoe makes for beautiful pictures, all you’d need is an officiant and your marriage license. You can also pay to reserve an area on the beach as there could be some tourists in June. Look into Sand Harbor Beach

You can call ahead and ask those above venue for a quote and availability. However, make sure you know how hot summer gets in some area, and added the gown... sweat and red face alarm 😅 But we Californian know about that. Check out wineries too! Go to Instagram or pinterest fo the pictures.

You could call a few Napa wineries and ask. I did call one several years ago (Charles Krug?) and the manager at the time told me for a ceremony + one hour photo shoot it would be $1K for the elopement. Weekday only, and we’d have to call 1-2 weeks ahead of time to ensure there was no other event. And then you could enjoy a honeymoon in Napa! 🍇 🍷 ♥️

A long time ago I worked at a bed and breakfast in Monterey right on the bay and couple would come there to elope all the time, they would get married on the rocks borders of the bay and have the photos there.

I'm definitely looking into Napa. I reached out to a few venues already. We love wine tasting so, this would be very relaxing for us.

Monterey is a great location. Ill add that to my list. I called one venue in Half moon bay. Im not interested in a beach wedding but any beautiful view without sand would be great. Im not a fan of sand...lol

No sand! The inn I worked is still there, The Martine Inn, it’s really lovely.
Don’t tell them I sent you, I worked there in 1989 when I was 20 and one night quit in a huff over something - that was 30 years ago, I’ve matured since then!

Thank you all. I actually found an affordable wedding venue in the Napa Valley. I found napavalleyweddings.com and were getting married on a private Vineyard with 10 guests. They cost is really inexpensive for the area as well so, we are very happy with that as well.
