Elopement Plans Are Nearly Complete

Sexypoodle, on September 15, 2021 at 5:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Although it was kinda crazy to cancel our plans only 2 months before the wedding, I couldn’t be happier about the decision to elope in Hawaii instead.

It’s all coming together…

We hired the planning company a little over 2 weeks ago, booked one of their elopement packages and selected the beach location for the ceremony. Since it’s only the two of us, the package we chose includes: set up, an officiant, videographer, small cake, two leis, limo, ukulele player and photographer. Although a photographer is included, these all-inclusive packages somewhat “nickel and dime“ when it comes to add-ons. So, we also hired an outside photographer who will meet at the hotel to take “first look” photos, then travel to the ceremony. Flowers were ordered (a bouquet, a floral lei crown and a boutonniere). I also sold my first wedding dress and kept the second one, since it’s more “beachy”.

Since we’re now getting married on Halloween (instead of 10/30/21) we made dinner reservations at a beachfront restaurant and then we’ll walk around in our bride and groom “costumes” that night. The next evening, will be our “reception“ and we booked a private window table on a dinner cruise (with Polynesian entertainment, etc.). For the cruise, we also booked an extra session with our photographer to take photos of us while on the ship. After that, we’ll simply enjoy the rest of the days in Hawaii for the honeymoon.

At this point, the main things left to do are: pick up FH’s ring, book a luau for our final honeymoon night, find a suit jacket for FH, select a song for the video and go shopping for honeymoon outfits

After a year postponement (causing a long 3-year engagement), we finally reached our 45-day countdown… so excited about this eloping adventure! 😁💕😁

That sounds so perfect!! I hope you guys have such a great time.

I’m just over 2 weeks out from my wedding and am wishing that I had scrapped everything for something similar. Props for being brave and setting up such an amazing elopement!

Girl, I know you have struggled with this pandemic and going through so many different plans like us… and I have to say, this is the happiest you have sounded! I know the last year and a half has been a struggle, but I think it all happened for a reason… to bring you to this perfect elopement!

Thank you!! I was just too tired of the uncertainty. I also didn’t feel like figuring out our guests’ different comfort levels and making various accommodations. After this long of an engagement, all the extras were just too much! So it was better to cut our losses versus paying much more in remaining balances…. and not ending up with the wedding we desired.

You are absolutely correct! In 2020, I rolled with the postponement and was still very hopeful. But by summer of 2021, I was fully over it and finally decided that that we may as well get married and have a party later. I was done with chasing the path of this virus. However, I had no idea that canceling our bigger wedding plans and deciding to elope would bring so much joy and excitement back. So, I definitely agree that it all happened for a reason.

Thank you, thank you!!! I love your term “magical”. Since we’re doing this “sight unseen”, it creates an excitement about the unknown. It’s Hawaii so I know the beach and ceremony will be beautiful. But overall, it’s like a fun and intimate adventure with just us two.

Yes… it feels great!!! We canceled 3 scheduled wedding plans and ultimately landed on the best one. This pandemic has been a roller coaster. But, in the end, everything happens for a reason!

Hey… it’s never too late. We made this very last-minute switch, at only two months out. But, since your wedding date isn’t until 2022, you have more than enough time. Best wishes 😊

We canceled 3 too! Then we did one with the kids - just a micro with kids and photos. Next up - on Sept 28th a family zoom vow renewal. 10 of 10 recommend eloping. I think all 2020 brides deserve the day they want and need! You do you!!! Hawaii sounds great!!!

Thank you and so am I 🥰 Deciding to elope is now our 4th wedding plan. Looking back, I was hopeful that the pandemic would subside by October 2021… but clearly I was very wrong. So, my only regret is that we didn’t initially do this after our 2020 postponement.

Haaaa…. Yes!! I probably never would’ve said this before. But I am now 100% on Team Elopement. All of our guests received cancellation notices on 9/1. But only our parents and 4 of our friends know about the elopement plan. So everyone else will receive a “surprise” notice and photo the next day!
