Who's had electrolysis? I'd love to hear details.

I have! What part of the body are you thinking? PM me if it's personal Smiley smile The laser hair removal is probably more effective on larger areas, but it didn't work on me. But guess what...neither did electrolysis -- I have hair of steel apparently...

I was thinking facial - upper lip, maybe around my chin and "sideburns". If it works, I might go all out. I also have hair of steel and can't take it anymore! lol!

You might try a laser hair removal place first. They should be able to tell you if it will work and if not do a "test" not on your face. I think it's probably similarly priced and the risk of scarring is less with the laser (if I'm not mistaken). The place I went did both and we tried the laser first....when that didn't work, went to electrolysis...when that didn't work I gave up and now call myself Sasquatch Smiley smile but I would say statistically they work for most and laser would be my first line of attack.

Thanks, Juliette. I read somewhere that laser isn't as permanent as electrolysis, but I wanted real input from real women.

Did all the hair come back or did it improve some?

I'm doing laser hair removal right now, bikini line and underarms. Bikini line is great, after my 4th session, I haven't had to even worry about it. Underarms are pretty good, still have some very light growth, but I can go a week where they're completely bare before some really fine hairs start growing, and those are easy to take care of.

I wanted to do my upper lip, but was told that hair was too fine, and because of my darker skin, the laser could just burn me. Smiley sad

Reenski, thank you for your feedback. I know everyone is different, but I am very curious about how many sessions it would take to rid of some problem areas. I'm very fair skinned and from Irish decent with loads of course hair. Ugh.

    Did you find it painful?

For laser hair removal, dark hair w/ light skin works best. Usually 6 sessions are needed. I am doing bikini right now, and after 2 sessions, I can see a big difference.

I wish I could b/c I'm a wildebeast but I'm basically albino so I was told it wouldn't work. Smiley sad

I have a friend who had her brows done. They have been a perfect arch for the past 10 years and she says it hurt like a motha but it was worth every penny.

I've gotten and still get electrolysis. i love it. first ill tell you i have tried laser hair removal too, but because it's not permanent i stuck to electrolysis.

i've had my underarms, chin, upper lip done and love it! right now i'm working on my bikini area. for me, it's $65 a hour, but my lady does a lot in that time. you can message me if you have any other question.

@Erin, yes, it hurts like a mother. The best way I can describe it is it feels like a very small needle jabbing you real quick on sensitive areas. That said, the lady finishes one underarm, goes to the other, by the time the 2nd underarm is done, first underarm doesn't hurt anymore. So it does pass fairly quickly. I went for my 5th session last week, my last session will be in June, and I'm very happy with my bikini line, and my underarms are pretty darn good, too (certainly enough for the wedding, my biggest concern!)

@Rachel, I got super lucky, and actually got a Groupon for 6 sessions, so I paid $198 for underarms and bikini line. I'm happy that it's worked so well, because I do have darker skin.

@Kris, I'd love to do my eyebrows, I thought they wouldn't go that close to your eyes and stuff. I'll have to look into that now.

I did laser and it did not work in my face as my facial hair was too thin to pick up the laser. However, worked in my legs as a charm. It was the most painful thing I've ever done but boy it was really worth it!!!

I would like to hear more about experiences with electrolysis as I havent tried it yet and might look into that for my face.

I know I could probably just look it up or talk to the center before scheduling, but I'd rather ask you girls. With electrolysis do you have to refrain from shaving, waxing, etc. for a long period before? or does your hair need to be a certain lenth?
