Eiffel tower/ostrich feather centerpieces

Justine, on November 2, 2010 at 4:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I'm interested in using ostrich feathers as my centerpieces. Has anyone done this? Words of advice?

I haven't done it but I found instructions once, which I assume you've seen as you have the same picture posted:

My biggest concern would be because the vase is so thin, it could easily topple over. Other than that, while not my style, it certain is beautifully different.

    Good luck!

@Carole- They suggest using floral clay on the bottom because of that.

I was going to say make sure it is mounted at the bottom so it does not topple over! Beautiful Smiley smile

Hi! Make sure the vase is tall enough so it does not block your guests view. We suggest 28 inch tall vase or taller to acheive this. If your looking for the full effect as your picture posted for a minium use atleast 30 feathers per centerpiece. Also in your picture the male winged plumes were used not drabs. I hope this advise help out! And congrats!

I'm doing these for my wedding. But I'm not sure that I'm using these vases. Make sure that if you the DIY ones that you dont' get the drabs. In order to have the full look like the picture shows you have to use the plumes. The male ones are better and longer and fuller but the femme work too.

I was going to do the ostrich feather centerpieces also, but then I met with my florist and she said even with the floral clay they are easy to knock over and she has seen it happen. So what I'm doing is getting a larger vase and mixing ostrich feather plumes in with some beautiful white flowers, that will be the same length as the ostrich feathers . She's also putting ostrich feathers in my bridal bouquet, and they will bounce a bit when I walk with the bouquet, sounds ugly but TOTALLY pretty. And ostrich feathers alone can seem kind of on the cheap side even though they really aren't.

Unless you really fill the vase with 30-40 plumes it can sometimes look bare also.
