Easter weekend wedding

Katie, on October 3, 2014 at 1:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

We are getting married the day before Easter. Now I'm starting to get these fabulous ideas about adding some Easter touches. What does everyone think of an Adult Easter egg hunt during cocktail hour? Add some mini alcohol, some gift cards or cash, wedding candy. I thought it was a unique idea compared to the standard wedding cocktail hours we have been to in the past.

And now I'm thinking an Easter basket for my flower girl instead of a regular basket. And maybe even white gloves.

Just little touches here and there. I'm going to be like Shelby from Steel Magnolias! We even have blush as one of our wedding colors! Haha!

What does everyone think of this idea? Too much?

I think it's cute, just don't over due it.

You don't want it to seem like Easter Dinner.

@Emma, I know I want to keep it a wedding. But only cocktail hour. We were also thinking of doing lawn games instead, but I don't want my wedding to turn into just a backyard style party. We are getting married at a venue that is outdoor, looks garden like and then the reception is inside.

I LOVE the idea of the adult easter egg hunt! I think it sounds like a lot of fun.

Dont make adults play games. Just don't. I hate this new trend...people dont go to weddings to play the Shoe Game or Eye Spy or have an Easter Egg hunt....they go there for dinner, dancing, conversing and free booze.

I don't think she's going to *make* anyone participate in the activities provided - but it's not a bad idea to have them as an option for entertainment (if that's what she wants) - just like adding a photobooth - people aren't forced to go take pictures in it - but people enjoy it for the entertainment.

This would only be the one hour during cocktail time. Which is 6-7pm. After that it will be dancing, drinks and food. We will have a photo booth as well. No other Easter related items after that. The centerpieces and everything else is very traditional.

I am also not crazy about having adults play games at a wedding. You can do all sorts of egg inspired hors d'oeuvres from the classic deviled eggs to all sorts of things served inside the egg shell. You could do an egg cream as a signature drink during cocktail hour.

I think the Easter basket for the flower girl will be sweet.

It also serves as sort of favors since we probably aren't doing those on the tables. No one ever brings the favors home I feel like so I wanted to do something different. We are having an adult only wedding, no children so there wont be kids running around grabbing eggs.

I'd be uncomfortable playing games. I also don't do themes well.

ETA: Definitely no cash prizes at weddings...

It's your wedding and if you want to have an Easter egg hunt then go for it! Don't let other people discourage you. Just do it tastefully. If I was at your wedding I would participate. Just don't be surprised if some people don't want to do it.

Idk that I would do an adult Easter Egg Hunt, but IDK why you couldn't have easter themed lawn games. Smiley smile
