Early Wedding Timeline?

KarynShaye, on September 21, 2019 at 10:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 3
We have our ceremony venue from 10a-2p. I’ve been looking around for sample timelines for early weddings. Anyone care to share how their wedding timeline went or what it is going to be?

We had our ceremony at 9:30 am. I’ve put our rough timeline for the full day. Reception and ceremony were at different locations, and we hired one limo for the morning. We did have a gap between ceremony and reception as that seems a lot more common in Australia. A lot of guests told us it was an ok amount of time, we had champagne and different flavoured mimosas for after the ceremony and a lot of people stayed back to enjoy that, but it was supper windy so not as long as they may have otherwise.

4:30 am - work up showered, had a bite to eat
5:00 am - met mom, bridal party and MUA at hair salon (hair for me, 2 Bridesmaids plus mom, makeup for me and bridesmaids)
7:15 am - finished hair and makeup walked back to hotel
7:30 am - photographer came to room (second shooter arrived at boy’s location) flowers delivered
8:30 am - limo picked up girls and took to photo location for first look with my dad
~ 8:45 am - limo collected boy and took them to ceremony location
9:00 am - limo took girls + dad to ceremony location (boys mingled with early guests, champagne and mimosa bar was open)
9:30 am - down the aisle
10:00 am - mingle with guests, had champagne and did painting
    10:15 - 11:45 bridal party photos
(reception started at 11:30 for guests)
    12:10 pm - grand entrance/first dance
12:30 pm wrap up cocktail hour
12:45 - 2:00 pm - Lunch and toasts (two courses, plated) speeches were split up and we also had time to mingle and visit tables between courses
2:00 pm - cake cutting parent dances
2:15 pm - dance floor opened
    4:00 pm - last call
4:30 pm - had to be out of reception location

we did sunset “trash the dress” photos immediately following and then went to meet guests at the after party.

Hey KarynShaye! There are a lot of questions that I want to ask you to help you start thinking about your timeline.

Is your ceremony starting at 10am? Have you discussed with your officiant how long your ceremony will be?

Do you have hair and makeup artists coming to help you get ready, or are you getting ready yourself? If you have booked appointments with people, you should discuss with them how long it will take you to get ready so that you can book them for a realistic time. Are you getting photographs taken before your ceremony?

Is your ceremony and reception in the same venue, or do you have to factor in travel time?

Have you agreed or discussed with your caterer what time your meal will be served?
