Early December brides?

Morgan, on April 28, 2020 at 4:52 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6
Hey ladies! I posted a forum about a month ago asking what December brides were planning to do.... wait it out? Postpone? Cancel? Our date is 12/5/20, so I’m worried about the second Covid wave affecting us. Obviously I’m not planning to make any big decisions this minute, because we still have about 7 months for things to get better. Just wondering what other winter brides are thinking and how they’re feeling.

Hi! I'm December 5th in NY. I too am worried about a second wave but there is no guarantee a second wave will come and no guarantee it will come in the fall. They are saying fall 2020 or winter 2021 so its all just up in the air.

As of now I am not planning to postpone. I'm hoping these restrictions will be a little more relaxed come the fall. I'd be okay still having my wedding even if there are still some social distancing/size limit restrictions in place because I feel like 2021 weddings will be in the same position as us - while they are hopeful to have a vaccine in 12-18 months no one really knows for sure. I plan to re-evaluate everything heading into September. Plus, my venue isn't postponing fall weddings yet. They said they will give fall brides more information over the summer. I'm just trying to stay hopeful and positive for now! I would really hate to postpone since everything is basically done (just need my dress fitting and bridesmaid fittings but still plenty of time for that) and my fiance and I also have plans to get a house and start a family in 2021. Fingers crossed we both will be able to have and enjoy our weddings!

    12/6/20

Really depends on the day. Some days I feel really hopeful that a lot can happen in the next 7 months so we shouldn't be as impacted as now. Other days I'm extra worried, especially because my extended family lives in France so I worry about borders being closed still.

I have stopped planning for now, because I already have all my vendors but transportation. I had started buying decor but I would rather wait until the end of the summer to buy more.

I am scheduled to have my tasting mid July, with 50% of our payment due two weeks after that. I'm hoping to have a better idea of where the country will go around that time as I'm worried about making such a big payment that might not be refundable.

12/12 wedding!! Not making any decisions right now. I personally think we will be okay. Things are starting to open back up in my area and we have so much time still!! I will wait it out til the very end because I would hate to postpone and then come around to that day and things are okay

We were November 2020, but last week made the decision to postpone. Like you, we were worried about the 2nd wave hitting. And with no vaccine and no viable treatments on the horizon, we didn’t want to take the risk with our health, or the health of our older family members. Plus, I couldn’t imagine constantly living with the stress of not knowing whether we will be able to have our wedding, not to mention that no one would likely RSVP until the very last minute because everyone would be watching the virus as well. The “final straw” that lead to me making the decision to postpone was the fact that I am not willing to change the season of my wedding. Autumn is the ONLY season I enjoy, and the only season I am willing to have my wedding. And several of my vendors were already filling up their schedules for Fall of 2021. I wasn’t about to risk having to reschedule my wedding to fall of 2022!

Mine Is In October, We Have No Plans On Canceling Or Postponing Right Now. It's Too Soon For Us To Make That Decision So We Are Planning As normal. Theres Still Time For Things To Get Better & A Second Wave Is Possible But Not For Certain. Just Stay Positive ! Smiley heart

    Hi Morgan,

I agree with comments above! It's okay to be nervous or worried at times. You certainly are not alone. Here's a recent discussion with other December brides: Wedding is December 2020. Should we consider cancelling?
