Dusty Blue Wedding - What does mom wear?

I didn’t tell my mom or stepmom what colors or style to wear. I’m not about to choose something that would look horrible on them. Parents don’t have to match the wedding colors.

She says navy blue. But, the issue is she doesn't want to clash with my dad who will be in a navy blue suit along with the groomsmen. That's why I need advice LOL.

I personally don't think navy and navy would clash terribly. Would she be open to wearing sage or a different shade of green that compliments sage? Or maybe a neutral color like gray?

What about silver?

I think a navy blue suit and navy blue dress would look fine together!
Just like black suits and black dresses look good together, wearing the same color is ok!

Normally, I would say let her wear whatever she is most comfortable in, but since she is asking I would say silver or another neutral color would be pretty. She could also wear navy.

My MIL also wants me to pick her color. While not under obligation like a bridesmaid, I think it’s very courteous for mothers/family VIP to ask the brides opinion on what color to wear. My MIL also wants to be considerate of my mom and what she wants to wear. It just helps all your photos look cohesive when all VIPs coordinate with the wedding colors even though it’s not necessary. We’re still deciding between light gray and navy suits for groomsmen and dads but my MIL is thinking about a pewter color which would look nice with either suit. I personally wouldn’t wear a navy dress if my husband was wearing a navy suit so I get it.

Soft grey on mom would be beautiful

You should definitely have your mom wear nude/tan or gold/champagne. It would look great with your colors!

I'm having a dusty blue wedding, but I didn't specify colors for mother of the bride / mother of the groom. My mom is wearing just a light dusty pink/mauve since it will be springtime.

If she's asking you to pick, just go with something soft (grey, blue, mauve, etc).
