Drop veil for second wedding?

Mary, on February 16, 2015 at 9:39 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

I've read that it's not in keeping with etiquette for second-time brides to wear a blushers, or even any type of veil. But I'm absolutely in love with the look of the drop veil.

My first wedding eight years ago was small (29 people), I wore a knee-length dress and a DIY birdcage veil. I was only 21, and we did everything modestly--no party or dancing, just a dinner at a restaurant. The marriage came to a heartbreaking end three years ago now.

I'm so thankful, though, because for the last year and a half I have been dating the most wonderful man I have ever met. We are both graduate students, and will be hosting a joyful bash on our school's campus with all of our friends. I'm so glad to have the wedding every woman dreams of, with a gown and a dance party. We'll be married in the chapel on our campus, which was built in the early 1800s--so traditional seems right. I have an Alfred Angelo 1148 dress, and am dreaming of a drop veil with it. Is that inappropriate for a 2nd wedding?

I wore a blusher in my second marriage. no1curr. If you're just reading about this, keep in mind that you can do pretty much whatever you want (within reason). However, if you're worried about dealing with other people's comments, just limit their access to the information.

It's fantastic, Mary, that you have found the one who's perfect for you! Wedding events are not so much about keeping with etiquette but feeling free to enjoy to the maximum the big day. So, wear the veil that you dream of, live the moment and be happy. Best wishes!

Thanks, all! This is really encouraging advice. I talked to my FMIL, a super duper lady, and she said the same things. I'm so excited! Thanks again Smiley smile
