Drop Veil and hairstyles

Lalaluna, on May 25, 2018 at 11:43 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Hi ladies! I LOVE the romantic look of drop veils like the one pictured below. But I was planning on doing some kind of side swept hairstyle with braids and loose curls. I was wondering whether anyone has ever done a drop veil with a side hairstyle? I'm struggling to find pictures online with this combo and I'm worried it's gonna look off balanced. I'll also include a picture of the back of my dress, as I'm not sure what length to do.

Also, I was wondering if anyone has made a dropped veil and if so, if they could share their process? Thanks! Smiley smile

I personally wouldn't wear that veil with the side swept hair style. But that doesn't mean it can't be done and done well. If you have a hair stylist that you go to regularly, ask them for their opinion. Maybe have them do a quick trial to see if you like it on yourself.

As for length, you can't go wrong with a veil that is fingertip length or longer. I love longer veils so I'm biased. Lol

Like the pp said I don't think a drop veil goes with a side swept style. Would you be open to doing the hairstyle like it is in the drop veil inspo pic?

I am doing a drop veil!. I am doing a low looser chignon in the back, with the front of my hair being side swept. I actually ordered mine through the etsy shop floraljewellery since i needed a custom color. I love it, it's super light. I did ballet length so it isn't hitting the floor. The two side combs will just slip in on either side of my braided bun. It really is a romantic look!

One benefit of choosing a drop veil is it can be worn with just about every hairstyle. The comb or headband will hold it in place even if your hair is worn down. I cruised around Pinterest and did find a few examples of side styles with drop veils.

How were you hoping to attach yours, and did you want a blusher or not?

I am wearing one! I’ve seen them called drape veils as well. My mother made mine out of her old veil. It was originally attached to a hat and she took the fabric off. She then attached it to two combs by watching YouTube videos. Basically sew some thread/fabric to the combs to give it something to attach too. Then bunch and sew onto comb. I suggest using a very flowy fabric. Hers is like a chiffon. See pics attached.

ignore my messy hair. But you get the idea. ETA- I plan on wearing my hair in a medium height bun/updo that is centered
