Drinking Packages..how many hours?

sunshine in the heart (aka Sarah), on March 11, 2013 at 11:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

Our venue offers several all-you-can-drink packages of various hours

We can choose from 3 packages, and then maybe switch to "on consumption"

One hour- $18 per person

Two hours- $26 per person

Three hours- $32 per person...

I am afraid I would be counting everyone's drinks if we were on consumption. Plus, I will try to drink enough Coke to warrant 3 hours. haha

Oh wow, that is cool. I was thinking about having 4 hours, but it seems that, being a Sunday, people may not want to drink as much?

We have an open bar for 4 hours but our cocktail hour and reception is from 6 to 11pm. 3 to 4 hours should be good.

Our wedding starts at 4pm and ends at 9. The cocktail hour starts at 4:30, and the dinner at 5:30.

We originally had the ceremony at 2pm, but I felt that this was too early for dinner at 3:30pm. Also, we would be coming in from Japan, so that meant 4:30am stomach vs. 6:30am stomach for us.

Most of the people will not be working on Monday.

Can you have 1 or 2 hours, then switch to wine, served with dinner? Having wait staff pour would cut down on how much people drink.

I don't know if that is possible because that may count just by the glass.

Knowing my future husband, he would drink enough for everyone. :p

I wish we could do just consumption, I am a 100% sure it would be cheaper than doing open bar package per person (for us it's included with the dinner package, $110/person for dinner and 4 hrs open bar). We have so many older folks my parents age that I'm sure won't be drinking that much...

I would think about your crowd and whether they will be drinking a lot or not.

$50pp for 6 hours of beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages for us. It's not common in Australia to serve spirits at weddings.

With our crowd, half are border alcoholics and half will get drunk off one drink. I figured it would even out Smiley smile

We were originally going to go on consumption but I think it would be too stressful, at least this way we know how much it is from the beginning.

Our package is $50pp for food and 4hr well drink open bar (one hour before dinner and 3 after) with wine served during dinner. I would look at typical cost for drinks in your area and your guest list. If the majority are aren't big drinkers it may be cheaper to do consumption bar. 3hrs at 32pp that is saying that each guest will consume 5 drinks throughout the night (@ $6 per drink).

Our wedding is on a Sunday and we are doing a 2 hour bar only. Since we are only having 50-60 guest and not everyone is a drinker, we felt we do not need the open bar the entire time. In the end, it will save us about $700!
