dress with layered skirt that fans out like flower petals

T, on July 12, 2012 at 2:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

Hi. I'm looking for a dress (maybe organza) with lots of layers or tiers on the skirt that would fan out like flower petals underwater. (I will be swimming in it). I like the bottom of this one http://www.moonlightbridal.com/Product/MoonlightCouture/H1190

but I'm not crazy about the top. Also, I am looking for something less expensive.

Has anyone found a website that will sort dresses by price, and has a search box where I could type "layers" or "tiers" or "petals"? Thanks so much for all the help!

Try looking at some designs by Luly Yang. Watch for sales, and perhaps second use sites. My friend got her dress for closer to 900 during a sale, it's original retail price was at least a grand more.

That's an expensive dress. If you're just swimming in it, this might be the only time I'd consiser a chinese knock off!

You can check with David's Bridal I seen something similar to that when I was in the store looking. Do you mind me asking why are you swimming the dress?

Wow! That photo is gorgeous but you are right, the layers are not detached. The reason for swimming is because we are crazy about the ocean, springs, lakes, etc. We are considering photos like you'll find on blogs here http://www.mandjphoto.com/

I am considering buying second hand, and will donate afterwards.

    Does anyone have experience with

    or

    http://search.recycledbride.com/find?search%5Bkeywords%5D=J9869&page=1

I definitely look better in an a-line.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your ideas!

@ Christie - I'm sure you found some beautiful gowns, but I wouldn't trust to purchase from that site.

Lightinthebox - disappointment in material quality and shipping issues

and I'm pretty sure Meghan ordered from them 2 years ago, and never got the dress or her money back.

@ T.H. ~ we have had many success stories from people purchasing off resale sites. Just be sure you are shorter than the previous owner. And that your measurements are smaller than her's. It might be hard to take out a dress that has already had alterations done to it.

This dress on etsy is from the 1950's sbd it needs some work (ie: long sleeves, high neck line) but its affordable, and the tiered lace skirt would look beautiful in water. Alterations would be pretty easy on this dress.

Hmm...this might not have enough fullness in the skirt, but I thought it was worth sharing.

If you order a dress online, I would recommend ordering from a company based in the US, not China. We are located in California and have a good review rating on weddingwire.com.

For anyone wondering whether a website is from China, we have put together a list of over 3000 sites (and counting) that you should stay away from.

Watch the videos as well to help educate yourself.

You can also share your experience if you ever ordered from one of these sites on our list and help others not to get scammed.
