Dress style for day garden wedding

Natalie, on August 25, 2020 at 11:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
I’m getting married in the spring, during the day, in a garden. I’m trying to come up with the perfect dress style. I’m thinking simple and flowy, maybe sleeves. I’m not sure about lace. It almost feels too formal for a daytime wedding. Thoughts?

Daytime weddings until the 1950s were the most formal time of day with evening weddings being informal but that has been swutched around. Daytime is considered semiformal..like Sunday best or what you might wear to an Easter church service. Anything light and flowy would be perfect.

Have you looked at BHLDN? Moonlight Bridal, Watters and Lilian West have a few dresses that would fit a garden theme.

I think you have more options than you think you do. Do you picture yourself getting married in anything specific? How formally do you imagine everyone else being dressed? I think a flowy, mid-length dress with loose sleeves would look great, but you could also go with something slightly more formal or traditional without looking out of place.

I had a soft, slightly bohemian floor length gown and I kind of felt/looked like I was floating around the garden which made the whole thing kind of whimsical. I don't have any pictures of mine from the front where we were in a gardeny situation, yet, but here's one where you can see most of the dress and one that's more gardeny: Dress style for day garden wedding 1

COVID changed our plans, so I bought my dress with a more formal outdoor setting in mind, but I think it worked out very well.

House of mooshki was my inspiration for the dress I'm wearing for our spring garden wedding. I like the short tea style, though it's more popular in europe than here, and I liked the mix of floral lace and lighter fabrics like tulle. Also keep in mind your shoes. If you're walking on grass, most heels will sink into the ground if they're too thin.

We’re having a garden brunch wedding and I’m still wearing a ball gown. Once I tried it on, I loved it.

Wear whatever dress you fall in love with. Wedding dresses are not subjective to a time of day.
