Dress storage pre wedding?

I think it’ll be fine, just get it steamed once you get close to your wedding date! I left mine in a garment bag in my closet for literally 15 months before my wedding, and it actually didn’t even need to be steamed lol, it looked fine 😂

I left mine in the garment bag until the night before when I took it out to steam it. I didn't want to risk anything getting on it.

I left mine in the garment bag too and got it steamed cleaned mostly because I personally wrinkled it myself ahah

Oh it will definitely wrinkle no matter how you store it lol. You will have to have it steamed before the wedding regardless but nothing wrong with keeping it out of the bag.

Thanks to everyone who has commented so far! One more question - does anyone have a suggestion as to how to bustle the dress? Or would a wrist loop be enough? We aren’t having a dance floor and the types of bustles I’ve seen I don’t really like.

I had mine for about 15 months also and it was fine. I had it in the garment bag in a dark closet.

Its with the seamstress now, but I know she keeps it in a bag when not doing alterations.

My seamstress will steam it the day before and that's when she recommended hanging it up high to let the layers keep their "fluff"!

I'm doing a french bustle but my dress has more layers than yours!

If it's a thin/light fabric and you're fine with doing wrist loops, that's definitely an option!

So what would have happened to the dress if the bag had not been there...it would have gotten dirt on it. I would personally keep it in the bag in the closet. You could have any type of dirt, dust, or even bugs in a closet.
