So for some background, I’m having a Halloween wedding next year! I’ve had the idea for quite sometime and was super excited to do a black dress. I found what I thought was the perfect dress and I loved it and bought it the same day with confindence. Now I still love my dress, however I’m starting to regret going with a black dress and wish I had gone with a white dress and added other elements of the gothic vibes I’m going for in accessories and decor. Photo of dress for reference.

It's a beautiful gown and I love the idea pp had in using it as just one dress for that day

I love it! I think it looks amazing on you. I loved the ombre veil pp posted. I'm also wearing a lavender dress, so I'm all about non traditional! Are you having doubts yourself, or are you catching flak from people? Sometimes I wonder if I should have gotten a white dress, but I tried some on and they're really not me. Maybe you can bring the dress somewhere and try to "beat" it. But bring it with you and see if you still have the feels.

I love the dress, it’s very pretty. If you really want a white dress maybe you can find a cheaper dress for the ceremony and still wear this one to your reception.

Just in response to questions about others opinions, family and FH have all been supportive in my unusual decision! Most people respond “ooo I’ve never thought of that but it’s perfect” I’m known for always wearing black, so it does fit perfectly for me, I think the regrets are just stemming from the worries of looking back in 30,40,50 years and not having those “traditional” wedding dress photos and looks. I’m currently deep in the hunt for my photographer (hopefully booking tomorrow!) and I think seeing all the white dresses in photos is making me feel this way

I think your dress is gorgeous!! What's making you doubt it? Is it just specifically the color?

I was going to suggest an ombred veil. I am a veil designer and I think it'd be perfect. I love your gown. It's gorgeous. If someone is pressuring you into getting a white gown, don't do it unless YOU want it. You are the bride!! I'm wearing pink because thats what I want. You do you. You'll never regret staying true to yourself. And if it's an evening wedding, do black tie and everyone will coordinate. ❤ Best wishes!!!

This! If, as it gets closer, you want to look for a white dress for part of it then change into this one it's always a possibility!

But, really, that dress is drop dead gorgeous on you.

I think your dress is GORGEOUS!! Sounds like it is "you" and definitely fits a Halloween theme. Just think, white wedding dresses weren't even a thing until the 1840's, which really isn't all that long ago considering how long there have been brides, LOL. Brides used to wear their best dress, so it would have definitely been something that was "them". In all of history I bet there have been more black wedding dresses than white! You can always change your mind and keep this one for the reception, but then I wonder if you'd regret not being true to yourself when you look back years from now. PS - I wore a pink gown back when pink wasn't so popular (26 years ago) and I regret nothing!!

ETA - maybe go try on some white gowns just to see if you like them or not. It might help you know for sure one way or the other Smiley smile

    You look absolutely lovely!

If you just can’t live with it, could you sell it to someone else?

    Congratulations and 🍀‼️

You look absolutely stunning in your dress! I think a lot of brides go through buyers remorse at some point. The question is how do you feel in the dress?

If after trying it on again you are still feeling like this is not the dress, maybe see about getting something else for the ceremony and wear your current dress for the reception. It is your day so you get to plan it however you want.

Cristina, I think you look phenomenal in your dress. And if you decide to stick with it, you’ll get some really beautiful editorial-looking photos. I agree with PP’s that you can always “bride” it up by adding a white veil with black lace. But at the end of the day it’s whatever you’re happy with!

It’s beautiful and amazing on you. I would rock it, I would maybe add white elements like white shoes under and a white veil of a white flower crown. I had a blush pink dress and before the wedding I would see white dresses and some times question myself but after I put it on again I was like, oh this is so me!
    Best of luck!

I think you look beautiful in that dress! If you're not 100% in love with it, there's still time for you to find another dress to possibly wear to your reception

I'm sorry for being intrusive about the why, I just know that's a typical reason. It's great that you have such a supportive family and FH. Smiley smile

I think that the regret thoughts would come either way... because you have a style that is all your own and your first choice was to show that on your wedding day. If you had a white dress instead of the one you've chosen, you may have the thoughts of "why do I not feel like myself?" Either way, your support system has your back. Maybe you can buy some traditional white accessories and you'll feel more at ease.

I actually love the dress and it looks stunning on you. Of course you’ll look just as beautiful in white but it depends on the vision you have for your big day. Is returning it or changing it got white an option at the boutique? If not, can you incorporate it in your wedding somehow and buy a white dress as well?
You can do an engagement shoot with this black dress and have pictures at the wedding. You can have a dress change at the reception and use this black dress.

I love the dress for your theme. Have you thought about purchasing a role of a thin white lace material you like and having it sewn over the bottom, then the black would show though (matching the top) and the majority of the dress would be white. My aunt is a seamstress and did that for a bride for near nothing. Since the material was purchase by the bride.

I love it, and it still has a "wedding dress" vibe just because it's big and it's gorgeous. Frankly, any dress can be a wedding dress if you wear it on your wedding day, and if you love the black dress, wear it with confidence and pride. You're killing it. It definitely screams Halloween wedding.

Beautiful dress! If you wanted a white dress and was thinking of adding some gothic additions to the dress, why not just do the opposite? Say like you wanted a white dress and you thought about adding black and red flowers to it, you could add white and red flowers instead. Or a white sash/wedding belt. Stuff like that. You can also have white flowers or hair pieces as well

If you feel that uncertain maybe use this as your reception for dress change & buy a white one if you truly can’t decide. I must say the dress is stunning!
