Dress is too short. Photo added.

36 days out and did my final dress fitting and it's at least 2 inches too short. Seamstress cut off "excess" fabric, so no going back. 36 days out and did my final dress fitting and it's at least 2 inches too short. Seamstress cut off "excess" fabric, so no going back. I suggested altering it to tea or knee length and foregoing the train and the seamstress sounds super angry. The even worse part of this: the seamstress is a close friend who is also in my bridal party. I don't have a photo of it now, but my MOH saw it on me and said: "Oh my god, that is way not good." Edit: it's 2 inches too short WITHOUT shoes on.

I agree with PPs - take your dress to a professional. But there's nothing wrong with going tea length. I'm going to be rocking a tea length dress. I have a fear of tripping or the train getting caught in something. Smiley tongue

I admire your make lemonade out of lemons approach in being willing to change the style!!! I agree with others in getting another opinion from a different seamstress. I definitely wouldnt want someone who appeared angry and my valid requests to continue working on my dress.

Oh no! If there are layers underneath, maybe you could make it less poofy? That would help to make it a little longer... Good luck!!!

Is it too short just in the front? I like the ideas of lace underneath or Tulle at the hem.

What if you added ruffles? You may not have to go with Tea length-

She may be mad because now it's all this extra work to fix, but unless you told her to take length off or something, I don't see why she did it.

I'm sorry this happened. Not fun.

If shes pissy cuz you dont like it she sounds like a bad friend, I would stop worrying about upsetting her. The cleaners I go to has a seamstress, and I actually used her to alter the hem of a bridesmaids dress a few years ago, and it looked great. You might be able to get some lace and take it to a cleaners that has a seamstress, explaining you would like it to be a little longer.

We could probably give you better ideas if you could show us a picture. If we knew the style and fabric your dress had, it could help. I'm so sorry this happened to you!

You could definitely add lace to the bottom and it would look great!

Up close of bottom edging of skirt. Not sure how to add lace without it looking odd.

I'm sure a professional can figure out how to fix the skirt under the lace layer. I think it should be about as long as the lace layer. I don't think the lace layer being short would be that bad, especially if you wear a pair of kick ass sparkly or colored shoes. They'll peek out and really show.

I think if you add length to the under layer it will look waaaay better and not look so short. I would consider taking it to someone with more experince.....

But with that said did you plan on wearing flats?

How the hell did she wack off two inches of a lace dress? Did she adjust it from the top?

She's a professional. And you paid her. It's her responsibility to fix this.

Yikes - could you have the skirt taken off and add a 3 inch 'belt' than reattach the skirt to it..... not ideal but maybe a solution?

How about a tulle petticoat type thing? It may make the dress a little more "poofy" than you wanted, but at least it wouldn't be too short.

The length of the lace doesn't look that bad to me. I think what no said is what I'd do- add to the liner, then it's not so obvious.
