My bridesmaids and family helped me pick out the "dress" yet failed to disclose it didn't actually fit in the back! When I took it to the alteration shop they said it could not be altered without taking away from the dress. I've literally been starving myself and haven't lost weight. I tried healthy...
My bridesmaids and family helped me pick out the "dress" yet failed to disclose it didn't actually fit in the back! When I took it to the alteration shop they said it could not be altered without taking away from the dress. I've literally been starving myself and haven't lost weight. I tried healthy eating. I've tried everything. What can be done with this dress?? I don't sleep at night. I want to elope. Please help 😭😭cfb_2x_1457487.jpg

Thank you.. my next fitting is Monday. If it's not even close and it's all been in vain that is definitely what I'll be doing.

I’m so sorry! Please do not starve yourself! you could ruin your metabolism. if you want to lose weight, I would speak with a registered dietitian or nutritionist and get a meal plan tailored specifically to your body and nutrition needs. If you are able to start adding in some exercise (even 20 minutes of walking outside) and drink lots of water (work your way to a gallon)!

I wish you had more photos to see details but based on your photo as a fashion designer and seamstress this is what I would do: Remove the beaded belt and undo the waist line starting at the side seam. You have plenty of gathering that can be let out at the waist. The belt can be reattchaed again after and just add extra beads to cover up the extension. The mesh I would cut it in an oval or V shape and get rid of the buttons. If lace is needed at the waist line, a small piece can be removed from the skirt if your seamstress can't find one to match the dress. Another option is to change the mesh in the back completely and reapply the buttons, however depending on the look of the front it may be hard to find a matching mesh. Good luck!

This could also hinder losing weight. Your body probably thinks it’s starving and trying to hold on to stuff. Depending on how long until the wedding, look into getting a nutrition coach!

I purchased a custom-sized dress from Etsy and they didn't seem to account for seam allowances (I ordered everything at my exact measurements because I was planning to lose weight). I managed to lose the weight to get it zipped, but the top of my dress has something similar to yours. The shoulder and bust part is too small, so we found a way to lace ribbon around the buttons and between the buttonholes that looks really pretty and that might work on yours, but one of the things we considered was a back extender. It won't look the same, but it'll give you extra space. I, along with a few of my friends, dabble in seamstressing and decided the lacing was the best option, but some of the back extenders are 3 parts (like the one I linked) and you wouldn't have to use the solid piece so it would lace up the back and still sort of be open.

The dress is beautiful and so are you. Do not try to change yourself in just a matter of weeks. There are several simple options. The dress has plenty of fabric. I’m all for adding an embellishment down the back vertically a strip of lace to add width then recenter zipper in the middle of added embellishment. Perhaps using part of train. You could make a dip V back add a bow and fabric behind. Or corset behind. A good seamstress can do wonders. The dress isn’t a mermaid or crazy small so no worries. That said. Sometimes the good talent of a seamstress is pricy. Ask about what the approximate costs are up front.

I’d you want to lose weight, you need to workout not starve yourself. Pick up heavy weights. Do push-ups. Do sit-ups during commercial breaks. Eat healthy, yes, but building muscle is what burns calories. You will not get “bulky”. Do not drink anything but water. And eat protein first thing in the morning (boiled egg, protein shake - sugar free).

Hey lovely! I’m so sorry to hear about your dress! How long do you have until the wedding?

As a former Personal Trainer and current Energy Healer, here is what I’d recommend: 1. Get 7-8 hours of sleep per night 2. Drink half of your body weight in ounces of water. For example, if someone is 140 pounds, then they’d want to have 70 ounces of water per day. And it’s great to add lemon + cucumber to your water! 3. Eat 5-6 small meals per day! I suggest not counting your calories, but rather listen to your body and eating intuitively. Eating tons of fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains is perfect! I like to have meals like fish, veggies, brown rice, and black beans. 4. Focus on moving your body in anyway that feels good for you! I love to dance, so that is my main form of exercise. But do what whatever makes you feel amazing! 5. Be gentle, loving, and kind with yourself!
You got this beautiful soul!✨ Sending you so much love 💖

One other idea that I have is you could post this dress for sale as never worn on websites like still white etc. and purchase another one. I bought a $3000 dress and a $300 dress from China and I will tell you that I am not sure which one I like more and am wearing them both (one for the reception)!! Don’t think you have to spend a ton for it to look great 😉

If you still want to try and loose weight Definitely make sure you do what the other ladies say about water! Like Jade says 1/2 your body weight in ounces. If you are 150 drink 75 ounces a day. You will not loose weight without proper hydration! Coffee and tea count and I drink bone broth as well. I’m on a Keto “ish” diet and I strictly cut sugar and carbs out and lost 25 lbs over the course of 10 months. I follow this Amazing nutritionist Leanne Ely. She is the founder of Saving dinner dot com. Look her up. She does a daily show on FB and you tube. Her audience is women 40 and over but she speaks to that universe struggle was all face as women. Check her out. She has truly changed the way I view myself and food. The psychological piece needs to be addressed as well. We don’t count carbs or calories! Fasting, eating healthy and hydration are the top three things. Join her Hot Melt Sprint group! You’ll be supported by other women across the country doing the same. She does webinars all the time to make sure her way is understandable and dedicates every Friday to a Q&A session if you get stuck. It’s completely free!
