My bridesmaids and family helped me pick out the "dress" yet failed to disclose it didn't actually fit in the back! My bridesmaids and family helped me pick out the "dress" yet failed to disclose it didn't actually fit in the back! When I took it to the alteration shop they said it could not be altered without taking away from the dress. I've literally been starving myself and haven't lost weight. I tried healthy eating. I've tried everything. What can be done with this dress?? I don't sleep at night. I want to elope. Please help 😭😭cfb_2x_1457487.jpg

Starving yourself or eating too little calories makes you hold onto weight. If you want to try to loose I highly recommend weight watchers. I started 1/1/21 and was down 13 pounds in a month 5 of which were during week one and I am never hungry I still eat 3 meals a day and snacks.

I agree. I can’t believe the sales person didn’t say something. I’m so sorry. I’d try a second opinion from another seamstress.

You are not letting anyone down. You can’t help that no one told you the dress didn’t fit. This is your wedding day and you deserve to look beautiful and be comfortable (without killing and stressing yourself to do it). If you can't or don't want to modify the dress, and you can get a new dress, get one. I have a condition that makes it difficult to lose weight, so I completely understand your frustration with your efforts not moving the scale like you want it to. If I were you, for my own peace of mind, I'd buy another dress (if I could). Purchasing another dress would alleviate the current stress about the dress and give you space and time to tie up other loose ends for your upcoming wedding. And your parents will still be smiling from ear to ear when they know you have a dress that you love and fits you perfectly. (They’ll be happy because you are happy!)

Not eating actually makes your body believe its in starvation mode, so when any new food that enters again, the body holds on to it and stores it as fat.
I went through a very unhealthy relationship with food in the past, that included starving myself and counting my macros to a T, and not eating has the opposite effect. Or not eating a certain group also has the opposite effect (I ate very low carbs, no dairy or fat and ate crap ton of veggies and protein but I wasn't losing weight because your body NEEDS the carbs to balance out)
Drink a lot of water -get those half gallon, gallon bottles and finish that everyday - a lot is water weight too. Since your wedding is in March, and all you just want is to fit into the dress, look into Keto, that drops weight fast. Good luck❤

Do not starve yourself! I suggest you take a day for yourself and then go to another alteration store with your closest friends and family. There are always ways to alter an outfit.

Were you not able to order your correct size? I blame the dress shop for selling you a dress that does not fit, as well as your friends and family. Could you have the dress shop exchange it for the correct size?

From your other responses, it sounds like the fasting has been working just not as quick enough result for what you need now.

Do you also portion your meal size? Some weeks I wasn't seeing progress so I would measure out how much I ate. I also gave myself cheat days and ate some carbs here and there so I know those weeks my progress also slowed down.

I've been doing it for 4 months now and have lost about 14 pounds. I would continue with the fasting in the meantime since you have over a month.

If that doesn't work, what if you added like a bow or something to the back where it's not buttoning up and that would hide that section?

    Something like the below.

First off that is crappy of your friends and I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Wedding planning really shows you who your friends are. If you want to lose weight I'd try keto. You will get the keto flu so don'tbe surprised, but you shed pounds quick, and the flu feeling goes away. Also my seamstress is putting in mesh to help my sleeves move more. Maybe a good seamstress can take out the back piece and add mesh with buttons to make like a dramatic v back that will fit but also match the initial style of the dress. Best of luck.

Sell the dress on stillwhite or preowned dresses and get a new one! You should feel beautiful on your day! Don’t abuse yourself to fit into a dress!

You can absolutely alter it! You just need a little more creative thinking. You'd probably need to remove the buttons. Sew on some support on the outer edges of the mesh. Maybe need to add a little bit of nude colored fabric in the back on the inside. From there you need to be a little creative on how it looks. You could pull the pieces together with some ribbon kind of like a corset. Or perhaps keep the opening and get creative from there. May need to remove some fabric and just have a cleaner opening. You could add something to cover it up like a bow or some flower pieces or something. You could add some lace in there to match the bottom of the dress and in a way widen the skirt part. Honestly there are a million things you can do to make it look better. You might just have to find the right person to do it.

If you do however want to lose weight instead to fit in it you 100% want to first figure out what body type you are. This will help you decide what kind of diet or excercises work best for you.

Whoever knew that and didn’t tell you...they aren’t very good friends. At all. This is some serious sabotage. If you can get a new dress, get one that fits. If anyone gives you a hard time, be blunt “I was encouraged to buy the other dress but was lied to by <name names > who told me it fit in the back. It did not button. I need a new dress that fits.”
And don’t bring those people with you to get a new dress let them know why. I’m so mad for you!
