DRESS HELP! adding a little bling factor

Nathalie, on May 18, 2012 at 1:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

I'm looking to add some bling to my already pretty dress... i have no idea where to look or start. The bridal shop i got my dress from called the designer and it would be $350.00 to order some bling! are there any cheaper options or should i just suck it up and pay the $$?

Is it possible for you to post a picture of your dress?

Try ebay or etsy. I was able to get a really pretty necklace and earring set on ebay for $30.

Depending on the dress, you could add a really blinged out belt/sash.

I love it but I'm biased because it looks a lot like mine lol. Did the shop have any sashes you could try on with it? They should have several options to choose from, and if they don't I would look for other shops/stores that do and would let you try on your dress with their sashes. It might not be a lot cheaper than $350 (although Alfred Angelo has some pretty ones for $100, and DB has them for $70), but I would want to at least try it on before I spent money.

You could also put a lot of bling around it with necklace, earrings, bracelets, headpieces, veils, etc.

Beautiful dress! It's very simple and I really think a beaded belt or sash would really compliment the silhouette.

Mine had little buttons going down the back, I hope you can see in the picture. With the lace up back, I am not sure you should do a sash. Maybe a rhinestone necklace?

I added a rhinestone belt to my dress. It also has a corset back. The seamstress can sew the belt on the dress so it goes just to wear the corset starts on each side. Mine is not done yet so I can't post a pic of it but I'll look for a pic & post it.

Here is the link to the belt. http://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleWhiteDresser?ref=seller_info

    It was $80.

I have the same dilemma.. I really think my dress needs something extra. i want to do a beaded sash or something like that but i also have a corset back. Maybe getting a sash sewn on the dress so it doesnt interfer with the corset would look nice!

@kristi, wish you had a picture to show lol

Kind of like this but with a beaded belt instead. But you get the idea.

I measured my waist and found a belt that had the beading all the way around. I didn't want it just in the front. Here is a pic of the belt I bought. And a pic of my dress. I took the flower off the hip.

I wouldn't put a thing on that dress except a blinged out belt. I'd have killer bling shoes and killer jewelry.

I'm having the same issues trying to figure out how to add a little something to my dress. If you don't like the way beaded sash belts look, try looking on ebay and do a search for "crystal dangle brooch" you will find all kinds of pretty brooches that you can pin at the top or just below the breast of your dress or even pin it to a sash.

I also think you should do a blinged out belt only and have it sewn as Kristi suggested.

I would def do a fab bing necklace, a statement piece, earrings and bracelet. Many of the Etsy shops have fabulous jewelry. Swarovski has a lovely line as well. If you are going to go bling jewelry from a store, buy them at a higher end department store. Imho, all bling is not created equal. Givenchy has lovely stuff and can be found at Macy and Lord and Taylor. Nordstrom and Saks has slightly higher end, but fabulous stuff.

@ Kysti!! that's a great idea! post the finish product when you can! I'm starting to get the sense that maybe a belt or a statement piece would be best at this point.... @ Paulette i love the brooch idea!!
