Dress doesn't fit.

Lysandra, on September 26, 2017 at 6:49 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33

Well I'm about 10 days out and I just tried on my dress. Got it all the way up and it was so tight I felt like I couldn't breathe and the zipper wouldn't go all the way up. I've been so stressed out about this wedding I've been eating garbage. I'm sure it's probably too late to get it altered but would shapewear really help very much? Any other suggestions?

Did your boobs get bigger or is it something else that it's tight around? Shape wear isn't really going to help anything up top.

Try to avoid carbs and food you know make you bloated for the next 10 days. Eat lean foods and veggies. If you have a workout plan, just stick to your schedule for the next few days like normal. If that all fails, then Yeah seek a seamstress.

Shape wear will help if it's your belly. If I were you I would lay off the carbs, alcohol and sugar for the next 10 days. It will definitely help you lose some water weight and may reduce some bloating. Carbs and sugar always make me bloat around my midsection and make jeans and pants tighter.

FH is on his way home from the gym (ha. How ironic.) so I can't get a picture of myself in the dress. But this is it.

Thanks for posting the picture! Unfortunately, since it has such elaborate lace, I dont know how to alter it. I would go to a seamstress fast and try the shape wear and crash diet.

You need to go to a seamstress. At 10 days out, using the elliptical and eating vegetables isn't going to make it magically fit.

So.. At ten days a good shit and water weight probably will fix it. We are probably talking about 5-7 lbs. Which could easily be a daily swing in weight.

    Few options

Buckle down. Put your hoodie on and go do your cardio, drop carbs. Eat right. Dropping water wight from glucose would make a difference. Make sure you eat enough fat and you poop.

I only recommend this if you know your body and are comfortable with water weight shifts. I'm guessing you aren't so this isn't my first recommendation to you.

Option two. Spanx. I'd you don't own any see if that will help. The dress will likely stretch through the day so it won't feel so noxiously suffocating all day.

Option three. Go find a seamstresses today. And see what they can do.

Options four. Make it work for the ceremony and find a reception dress. But I'm betting if you get it on for the wedding by reception it will be fine.

If you cut anything fried, carbs, and dairy and stick to lean protein, fruit, and veggies (and TONS of water) for 10 days (WAAAAY easier said than done) you could easily lose a few pounds of bloating plus a couple real pounds. If you can zip the dress and the question is comfort, I would guess that would be enough. BUT you have to stick to it.

I've been doing atkins for a week and have lost about 8 lbs, maybe this would help you too?

Thanks everybody. I think I may do a combination of 3 things. Cut carbs and drink tons of water, get some spanx, and I'm also going to call a seamstress today.

FH came home and I told him my situation. He used to be a personal trainer so he's going to make sure I stick to the food plan and exercise up until then. This weekend is just going to be hard though because we're all going away for our bachelor/bachelorette weekend. Crap.

Usually crash diets are not a good idea, but with 10 days, I think a crash diet is a good idea. my brother is a wrestler and often has to drop 5-10 lbs in a week. It's not safe they way they go about it, but some of the things they do that I DO recommend are eating very lightly. Stick to salad, cheeses, grilled chicken, etc. He runs while wearing a trash bag (don't do that) but perhaps go for long runs in sweats. Cut out as much salt as possible!! This will cut down on bloating. Skip sugar in every way possible. At your bach party, drink vodka with seltzer or a martini. Then, don't drink at all until the day of. Get spanx! They made quite the difference for FSIL. GOOD LUCK!!

I had the same issue only 7 days out from my wedding. the seamstress took the dress too far in from the week before. It took 2 people and moving the hook to get it to close while i was at the shop. The seamstress offered to let it out, but I didn't trust it not to end up to big again so I said i'd deal. I kept a strict diet for that week and drank a ton of water. I ran every day instead of lifting weights to lean out as much as possible and it worked, a little too well even. My dress ended up being slightly big the day of.

I found out a week before my wedding that I couldn't get it to zip! Stress weight gain is real lol. The lady I used for my alterations let it out for free in like 2 days and it fit like a glove!

If you have someone who has done alterations on your dress, reach out!

Spanx. Maybe a new zipper with a little more room on each side could get you some room as well

I feel like you know your body best on this. Personally I can vary in a whole pants size (or two) depending on what I ate. I could easily cut out gluten, dairy and drink water for a few days to drop a few pounds. I have IBS and my stomach is super sensitive though.
