Dress cleaned before wedding?

I was wondering if I should get my wedding dress cleaned after alterations. What is everyone doing? Its a brand new dress, but its been at the alterations for 9 months.

    Unless your seamstress has done something wrong, there really shouldn’t be ANY reason to clean it before the wedding. It should leave alterations in steamed, ready-to-wear condition.

    My seamstress told me that she'll steam it after my final fitting; which is on Monday. Once all of the alterations are good to go, she'll steam it and it'll be ready for pick up!

    My bridal boutique steams mine before the wedding! That's all we're planning on doing.

    If you steamed somewhere besides your seamstress how much did it cost and how long did it take? Can you bring to a regular dry cleaner for that?

    They should be keeping it in the garment bag and taking good care of it, so I'm in agreement with everyone else - you really shouldn't need to get it cleaned beforehand.

    My entire skirt is Satin, so I am having mine steamed the week before the wedding.
