Dress budget.. hoping to stay under 1000

Brittany, on April 1, 2017 at 11:57 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 36

I have never been wedding dress shopping or even looked online at prices or anything. I'm not sure what a good dress budget is! I don't wanna go in and say $1000 and they look at me like I'm purple! Hoping it's pretty reasonable. Any input?

They're not going to say it's unreasonable at all. For reference check out David's Bridal or other websites. If this is your exact budget you'll want to leave room for alterations but it can definitely be done for $1000.

My budget was the same as yours. I bought my dress from David's Bridal and it was originally $1350 but was on sale for $500. You can definitely find wedding dresses for less than $1000 especially at David's.

Oh thank god! I thought for sure that it wasn't possible. But I'm very new to the game so I had no clue!

Can be done! Research bridal shops in your area. Most will have stuff in that price range, unless you go to swanky bridal shops. If you want to stay right at $1000, leave room for taxes and alterations. Don't forget about your accessories, too!

$1,000 was my budget, but it ended up costing me twice that much. My dress was $1,145, alterations ended up being quoted at $700, and belt, veil, and jewelry are about another $200. Don't want to scare you, but be smart! I should have asked questions about alterations. I need a hem on a scalloped lace dress, which I should've asked about when dress shopping.

I think it really all depends on where you go and what you're looking for. But I really don't think anyone will look at you funny with that budget.

It can be done but I wanted sleeves which was nearly impossible to get with that budget at the stores I went to. I've been seeing some amazing Etsy made dresses for under 1000 though. Maybe give that a look. Smiley smile

It can be done Smiley smile just make sure if you find a dress look online too because sometimes it's cheaper online than in store. Good luck!

Definitely can be done! Just make sure they don't show you anything over your budget! I found a discount bridal store a few hours away so I think when I start looking I'll go there first.

The place I went to had plenty of dresses under $1000. Bridal Salons often times have an FAQ page on their website listing out the prices their dresses start at. You could always call places and ask so that you know before you go there!

Honestly I went to David's bridal thinking they would give me flak for a budget of $500, but I left with a dress that was only $150! Of course, everyone's experience at different DB's are different, but I would definitely recommend giving them a shot

Absolutely doable. I went to Alfred Angelo and got dress, veil, and a belt for a little over $500. Since I purchased additional pieces, there was a discount involved which was awesome.

That's totally reasonable! But it depends on where you go- I went to terry costa and the norm was $1,200-$1,600. I went to David's bridal and there dressed were affordable. I ended up getting my dress at Alfred Angelo and loved it! I stayed under $1,000 as well (before alterations)

I got my dress under $1000 from a bridal consignment shop in my area. I had no idea there was such a thing as bridal consignment before I went there!

I got mine for $995 at a bridal salon in the area. It was a floor sample of a gown of my dream label that's going out of production.

It can absolutely be done. Be prepared, though, I got irritated with my consultant because I told her my firm price point but she brought me two dresses to try on that were more than $300 above my budget. Thankfully I didn't like them anyway, but I've heard stories about brides trying on dresses that were above budget and falling in love with those. Consultants can be sneaky!
