Dress budget.. hoping to stay under 1000

Brittany, on April 1, 2017 at 11:57 PM

I have never been wedding dress shopping or even looked online at prices or anything. I'm not sure what a good dress budget is! I don't wanna go in and say $1000 and they look at me like I'm purple! Hoping it's pretty reasonable. Any input?

I love the dresses on BLHDN, and they put them on sale often Smiley smile Even if there isn't one in the your area, they make exchanges very easy.

Carousel, that happened to me at Davids Bridal. I told the lady that my budget was $500 and I didn't want to go over that. Well, she put me on a dress that was $1200 and I fell in love with it the second she put it on. Since I knew I had asked her to keep in my budget I just casually asked how much it was after I knew that was the one and almost fell out when she told me. Not only that but I never even considered to factor in alterations and such so after my $600 alterations (beaded gown) I ended up spending roughly $2000 including veil and everything. I'm STILL mad at that lady but I'm sooooo in love with my dress and can't wait to wear it in less than 2 weeks!!!!

Totally doable. I got mine for under 1K from David's Bridal.

Totally doable. At first I was baffled on evening spending that much on a dress for one day but I went in with a budget of $500-1000 and they showed me plenty of options and gowns on the sale rack. I went in with an open mind though and told them I was a little flexible with my budget. In the end I fell in love with a dress that was only 200 over my original plan but in the end I felt great in it and was worth it.

I received my dress and it was my cute little fairy tale dress for only $100. I shopped wedding dresses on amazon. I used Fair Lady Wedding Dresses

Start doing your research. Yes dress shopping can be overwhelming, but in the end worth it. Alterations can sometimes be cheaper if you go outside of your bridal store. Check out Etsy or Amazon for accessories items such as sashes, jewelery, veils, and shoes they are going to be so much more economical.

That was my overall budget and I really didn't want to spend all of it on my attire, I went to a local boutique called Lows Bridal and formal wear and thought for sure I would go over. I told them id like to stick to $500 for my dress so they took me to their sale room and just had me pull what I liked. I ended up getting a $1,500 dress for $520. Just ask to see their sale dresses and ask if any of them are being discontinued! Mine was so it was marked WAY down!!

Shop around. I found my dress for under $1000. Though, with alterations and accessories it will be closer to $1500 once everything is finished.

I did 550 at David's bridal also! I spent more on alterations.. but that's just because I wanted to add a lot of sparkle to my dress

Totally doable and reasonable! I saw Cocomelody mentioned in a few threads before and checked their website out. They have a huge selection and most dresses are under $1k; many are in the $300-700 range which would leave you room for alterations if needed.

I had a terrible experience at Davids Bridal and found an amazing dress at a small bridal boutique for less than the only dress I liked at Davids. There are also wedding yardsale pages on Facebook, so if you find a style you like that's out of your prize range, go to one of those sites and get the dress you want for much cheaper.

I searched for bridal outlets on yelp and found a GREAT place where the dresses were $500-950 and not a single dress was more than that. This place also offered $100 off if you were a first time customer. Just do some research and you'll find great deals. It doesn't have to be a name brand store either because mine wasn't and I couldn't have had a better experience with buying my dress.

I found my dress for 600 (my budget was $1000) Smiley smile It's not an unreasonable budget. I would call different bridal shops and ask what their price range is. A lot of times the smaller shops are willing to work with you on price since they don't get nearly as much business as stores like Alfred Angelo or Davids Bridal.

I was really worried about this when I went dress shopping, I had several horrible experiences at David's Bridal as a bridesmaid and was worried I wouldn't find anything in my budget locally, actually I was really worried after my first appointment, I had called, the gal said they could find me something and when I showed up they were putting me in $3000 dresses. I made one last attempt at a local place, which ended up being owned by someone I went to high school with and she made the whole experience amazing! She had a HUGE selection in my budget and also had some consignment dresses. The brand Watters has some affordable dresses. Mine ended up being $850 after taxes.
