drastic Wedding Dress Alteration - Raleigh nc area?

Hey all!

So I bought a wedding dress 3 years ago, and it never got worn. I'm getting married in November and want it somewhat drastically altered (its a ballroom shape, and I want the skirt portion slimmed down/taken in so its not as poofy).

I'm afraid to go to a random tailor here in town, despite good reviews, because wedding dress alterations seem a little more daunting. I haven't found reviews on more than just hemming. Because of Covid, the one wedding dress shop in here won't do it.


Any suggestions moving forward, or any specific places in the Raleigh area? (I'm willing to travel like, FAR for a good tailor. Like, Georgia or Virginia if necessary).

    Village Tailor. They are by Cameron Village. My mom had her MOB dress altered there and they did a fabulous job. I was going to make the 1.5 hour drive to get my dress altered there, but ended up finding a good seamstress where I live.

    Both my sister and I used ‘Just Sew by Renee’ for our bridal gowns. She is fantastic, my sister had to get her dress taken in about three sizes. I ended up losing 20 pounds between my first fitting in my last fitting, and she was able to take the dressing exactly as needed. She works out of her home in Holly Springs/Apex, but is super professional And has a dedicated fitting area for her brides.. She is expensive, but is definitely is worth it. I think she’s been doing this at least 20 years, possibly longer.
