Draping and/or Lighting for dark atmosphere

Amanda, on June 1, 2019 at 8:14 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 2
My reception is from 5-10 PM this summer. The ballroom has several large windows and I am worried it will not be dark enough to lend itself to a "dancing" atmosphere. I've seen photos of other events in the space, and it is too light and bright for my taste. I am also having a really small guest list (approx. 50 people) which doesn't help the situation. I know I can drape the entire room and then do uplighting to achieve the look I am going for, but that will cost over $2,000. Any budget friendly ideas that I may not have thought of?

Have you considered fairy lights? They're fairly inexpensive and look really pretty!

    Hi Amanda!

Do the windows in the venue have any type of blind or shutter on them that you can darken the room a little? Or are the bare windows?

If so, it does seem like draping would be the only way to block out the daylight. Have you spoken with the venue coordinator about this yet? Did he/she have any suggestions?
