I live in a small country town and will be having a wedding locally. The concern I have is I don't want a redneck wedding! I grew up in a big city and though I am a country girl at heart I'm not redneck, neither is my fiance. We are more country, more rustic but not redneck. I have been to SO many local weddings and it never fails they are redneck and I'm determined to not have that. I won't be wearing cowboy boots with my dress nor will we be having canned beer at the wedding.

So here are my questions.

My fiance requested that we have some of our amazing friends from Iowa who have won awards for their amazing smoked food, do the catering. The food is great and I'm so okay with it. But I have to think of a way to make it classy and not too cowboy/redneck. Any suggestions for a "classy bbq" or something like that?

I also would love to hear suggestions on how to word our invitation so people actually dress up and not wear their wranglers to the wedding. Another fear I have.

Deborah: Check out a magazine my Momma found - Flea Market Style Weddings. It ranges from the cutesy/kitschy to elegant yet rustic. It might just spark some ideas!

For years, my dad was a pallbearer at relatives funerals...and the majority seemed to pass during the winter. Although he's a rancher, he wore nice pants every time and wore thermals underneath. He'd still freeze since the cold air would blow right through those thin pants! Then he talked to one of the funeral home directors who suggested new black Wranglers with thermals. Dad always figured that if it was good enough for a funeral director, it was good enough for him!

Something else to think about with venue--even if you find something plain and simple, you can always decorate it well. Its amazing how one can transform an empty room into something beautiful and inviting with the perfect decorum. In other words, even if its a barn, there's bound to be ways to decorate it so its what you want.
