Donations for favors - Do or a Don't?

I know some people Love this idea and some hate it so I wanted to see the reasons. If I do go with this idea, it won't just be a random donation. My FH's uncle suffers from NF so we would be making the donation in his honor. Also... for all of you who are for the idea, any suggestions on how to word...

I know some people Love this idea and some hate it so I wanted to see the reasons. If I do go with this idea, it won't just be a random donation. My FH's uncle suffers from NF so we would be making the donation in his honor. Also... for all of you who are for the idea, any suggestions on how to word it? Thanks!

    We are doing a donation. I feel like as an older bride my friends all have everything they need and we go buy things we need and who really wants things with other peoples names on it. Having said that, my sister just got married in November and there were almost enough favors left on the tables for 1/2 of my wedding if I wanted them. So our goal is to donate 10% of what we spend on the wedding. I have talked to many of my friends and they agree they would rather the money be used for a good cause.
