Dominos Pizza Catering?

Would it be tacky to have Dominos pizza delivered for the reception dinner? Hear me out. FH and I are young college students on a very tight budget. We’re having around 85 guests, for our small, rustic, (pretty much family only) wedding. We saw that Dominos caters for weddings, bringing more pizza trip after trip, to make sure hot pizza is served to guests. It would cost roughly $500 according to their quote. This is the cheapest I’ve seen catering. Please tell me it’s not tacky 😂 we could display it nicely, like in the photo. We would also have a salad bar and a dessert table.

I agree with this. I am not usually in favor of these "modified" weddings but it is a crowd pleaser. Maybe check other vendors before dominos & also consider a BBQ menu, it is way more affordable than the "fancier" options.

PIZZA!!! I'm not a fan of domino's personally but usually wedding food is so BLAH that I would LOVE pizza instead!!! We are having a smaller DW in Vegas and getting 'catering' from Walmart (sandwiches and chicken). I think it's totally fine!!!

Personally, if my wife and I came into a wedding and saw we were being served Dominoes pizza we'd be STOKED. Haha! But I definitely think it's a know your crowd situation for sure- especially with family. for example our older family members would have been salty as heck, but our friends would have been like YES. I also agree with adding more options if you go the route. Especially for any GF, veg. etc. people.

I think dominos is the one brand of pizza I will not eat, so no. This doesn't sound good at all.

I think it’s fine, truthfully. Can you also order their pasta they have for some variety maybe? Our wedding is also very casual and though we are not doing pizza, I know that none of our guest list would be disappointed by having it at the reception. I think this is a know your guests kind of thing.

Some other budget friendly options would be BBQ (we did this and got sooooo many happy comments from guests) or a taco bar catered by a local Mexican restaurant.

I don't think it's tacky, but as a guest, I wouldn't eat the food at your wedding. I have never been a fan of dominoes pizza.

You're having a DW but are serving food from Walmart? How does that even work? Your venue is cool with you bringing that kinda stuff in?

I always think of a DW being above and beyond as far as hosting your guests so this is new to me.

I agree with pegs on some fancy pizza. Still inexpensive but at least not on the level of fast food.

I think this can work if your whole vibe is *very* casual. If so, just make sure that your invitation indicates that your event is really casual. You don't want want people expecting a more formal plated dinner. I would also make sure you get some non-pizza items (salad, chicken, something vegan friendly if you have any vegan guests).

I think this would really depend on a) your crowd, and b) the formality level of your wedding. If your wedding is very casual I could see this working ok, but if it's at all formal it's going to seem a little strange.

Things are a LOT different for Vegas weddings (no real venue for us and party bus with a DJ on board). Knowing our crowd we went with a more 'What is better to drink on' vs. fancy sit down dinner. It's a know your crowd thing I think. They know their family likes pizza (mine would love it but we are also doing pizza for the rehearsal the night before for whoever wants it) so we went with chicken and subs instead.

I love pizza and Dominos happens to be my favorite. I wouldn't expect it at a wedding but i wouldn't be mad either. My FH hates dominos though so he would not be as happy as me.

That's interesting. So where is the ceremony taking place?

I personally wouldn't be upset but I would probably recommend at the very least having that match the overall vibe of your wedding. I'd find it odd if it was implied the wedding would be a little dressier so I show up in a nice dress to eat Dominos pizza. Again, I wouldn't be mad since I'm a picky eater anyway and catered food could be hit or miss to me, but I'd probably be a little confused. I think it can be done in a pretty casual setting and if you know all of your guests like Dominos.

You can't please everyone. My cousin had his "reception" (it was months after their elopement) at mellow mushroom. We had pizza, and wings, and beer. Everyone hung out an had a blast!
If served like the picture it could look nice and served with a salad would be a great meal. Especially if they are continually bringing fresh pizzas!

Mandalay Bay. We asked our guests what they wanted and it being most of their first time it was to see everything lol!! So instead of renting a hall or something we did party bus which will take us to different locations (Like the sign and fountains) while we have a mini-reception on board with dancing, drinks and easily held food.

I begged FH to do a pizza truck at our wedding so I would be very excited to attend any wedding with pizza. Can you look into pizza from somewhere other than a fast food pizza place? I know there are a ton of mobile gourmet pizza food trucks that cater to weddings.

The party bus actually sounds really cool. Are you worried about the motion combined with drinking and eating? I would be too scared to do it because of that, but it does sound like a great way to see the town!

Sorry to get off topic of the main post, lol.
