Anyone have any fun dollar dance ideas besides everyone just slow dancing with the bride and groom?

Don't do a dollar dance. It's tacky. You should never ask your guests to open their wallets at your reception.

ETA: There are several threads on here that address this.

Yes - skip the dollar dance and just have fun on the dance floor instead of looking for money

    Yes, I have no idea.

Don't do it. It's tacky to ask your guests for money.

In some cultures, the money dance is appropriate as there is tradition and meaning (beyond just getting money) behind the ritual. However, if you are dancing just to get extra money for your honeymoon or whatever and there is no cultural relevance it is rude and tacky. I also find this insulting to cultures that have this tradition, since you are disregarding the meaning and symbolism of a practice for your own monetary gain.

You won't get the responses you're looking for here. Dollar dances are highly frowned upon here. It's tacky to ask for money.

Is this for a culture reason, or are you doing this because you simply just want the money?

Are you doing it because it is a cultural tradition? Or because you want some extra cash?

Just a heads up, most of WW views this as extremely tacky (unless it's part of your culture). Brace yourself for the responses!

Lol yikes! I was only doing it for tradition. I've honestly never been to a wedding that didn't do a dollar dance! Maybe it's a Pittsburgh thing! Kind of like our cookie tables!

By tradition, do you mean because "everyone you know has done it", or because it's actually a part of your culture?

Dollar dances are typically frowned upon, unless done for cultural reasons. Otherwise, it just looks money-grabby.

I have never been to a wedding that did not do the dollar dance. Especially in my family. It is tradition and cultural. Before you call something that is a cultural representation tacky and rude. Do your research first. I am doing it at my reception and I don't feel guilty not one bit.

Ashley did you even read the comments? People are saying that this is tacky and rude if it IS NOT part of your culture. If it is, it's fine.

I'm getting really tired of "it's tradition". I'm Mexican and was dead set on not having one because it's tacky. How about making new non-tacky traditions?
