I am only having one song as I dont want to spend 2-3 songs asking people to dance with me for their dollar, LOL. But I am choicing "I hope you dance" by lee ann womack. I had thought about "my wish" by rascal flatts. Money, Money, Money would be a fun upbeat one, but my Mom said to go with something slower, so I did.

Alycia C. great suggestion! I love that song...lol. Any ways~ Most weddings I have been to the Dollar dance is normally slower music. I know when my cousin got married she chose a slow song bc she wanted every age to feel comforatable dancing with her/her husband

We are using quite a few but the one I like best is "take the money and run" by The Steve Miller band.

We're doing two songs, the first is "If I Had A Million Dollars" and the second song we haven't picked but it will be a more fast paced county song. Maybe "T.R.O.U.B.L.E" or something along that line.

A dollar dance is where who ever out of your guests decideds to participate gets in line and donates a dollar (some may donate more) gives it to the on of your BM and then if they want takes a shot (usually of pucker or schnopps of some sort) and then if they are male they dance with the bride if they are female they dance with the groom for a few seconds or so then the next person will walk out and get to dance....I am not sure why it is done though. I think the money donated is to help pay for the wedding.

Remember not everyone has to partake in the dollar-dance thoguh. It is definitely more popular in some areas than others, I have never been to a wedding without a dollar-dance, and I am having one because they are fun!

Some people think they are trashy and uncalled for, but you just have to remember that i can be very fun!! Its all up to you, however not a MUST at every wedding Smiley smile

I'm still on the fence about doing the dance. My cousin did the dance & it WAS fun, but my FS is Caribbean and his family might not be down...

    From Wikipedia:

"The money dance, dollar dance, or apron dance is an event at some wedding receptions in various cultures. During a money dance, male guests pay to dance briefly with the bride, and sometimes female guests pay to dance with the groom. The custom originated in Poland in the early 1900s in immigrant neighborhoods."

The modern adaptation still holds true to this description, give or take a couple details. You can approach this event in a variety of ways:

    1) Dollar Dance Auction - Your DJ or Master of Ceremonies will become an auctioneer for just a few moments. This is a fun approach and has rendered some really large amounts of money for several of our clients.

    2) Dollar Dance (Appreciative) - This is more of the serious approach to the dollar dance. Songs such as "That's What Friends Are For", "You've Got A Friend In Me" and "I Turn To You" are played.

    3) Dollar Dance (Silly) - This is where songs such as "Take The Money & Run", "Money" and "Billionaire" are used.
