Does wedding Insurance cover cancelled wedding?

MrsMitch , on March 6, 2018 at 2:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Has anyone here had to actually file a claim with WedSafe? I have a friend that was getting married in two weeks and the wedding was just called off the wedding. Obviously at this point all vendors still want final payments. She said she has cancellation insurance through WedSafe but I didn't think that covered "change of heart" cancellation.

Nevermind...I was able to pull our old contract and it clearly outlines

We will NOT indemnify You for any loss caused directly or indirectly by any of the following:

6.Cancellation or Postponement following a voluntary decision of You or the Honoree not to proceed with or take part in the Event, including, without limitation, such voluntary decision resulting from a change of heart.

I think that depends on if she included that option in her insurance. I don't think they're automatically added to the cancellation policy.

She should still have the party.

    It's paid for

From what I have read only other parties paying for the wedding (like parents) can get coverage for change of heart.

    Tough spot to be in.

I agree. Have the party anyway. Everything's already paid for, why not use it?

Change of heart coverage only covers parents/non-bride-groom payors, only more than a year out. At this point no wedding insurance ever is gonna pay for anything.

I knew a girl in college who called off her wedding a couple weeks before and she ended up just inviting everyone to come party and eat and drink for free since it was already paid for!

    Oh no. That's tough.

It sucks but I would assume that she had the money set aside to pay her vendors. She is going to have to pay or risk getting sued I would think
