So me and my FH are getting married at the justice of the peace and we are renting a resturant space to hold a reception, the catch is we will not be paying for everyone's meals. Does this seem tacky? Also my aunt wants to give me invitations as a wedding gift so what should I put on them in reference to the reception and having to pay for their meals? Please help....

I wasnt able to reply via the posting so I decided to do it here, I am getting a cake and the resturant will provide a cake table and gift table and decorations. However its a great idea to change the wording from reception thank you.

That's a great idea it's not wear or how you get married but it's if you and your FH is happy if eating at a restaurant than do it but don't invite everyone. If you want people you love than try the park or maybe someones backyard. Good luck and have fun Smiley smile

I looked in your area an came up with this park

its $110.00 to rent the large pavillion for the day.smaller ones are cheaper and you can even rent them for half the day and save money.no alcohol is allowed but if your guests are drinkers you could always invite people to go to a bar afterwards.

they also have an activity building you could rent with heat and air but it doesnt show the price for that.

If I were you I wouldn’t go through with it at least right now. When I think of my marriage I think of it being FOREVER, divorce is out of the question i don’t care how hight the divorce rate is so I have thought about it long and hard and prayed about it and if there was even a smidge of doubt in my mind I wouldn’t be going through with it until I know that it is something that I can deal with FOREVER.

I don’t think that you should have to put up with that crap that is unacceptable. That should definitely be addressed before any long-term commitment.

Parks are a great idea and cheap! A lot of them you don't have to rent but if people rented the place you can't invade their space. Let us know how it goes!!!! Smiley laugh

Just have a desert reception, get a cake, some candy , bars etc.....You don't need to put out a huge spread for people. The definition of tacky is different to everyone, like for me a rainbow wedding is tacky, but thats beside the point. Do what you can afford and do what YOU want it's your wedding!
