Does the invitation font have to match the envelope font?

Mrs. Turner2B, on July 28, 2010 at 7:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I'm printing my invitation addresses onto the envelope rather than handwriting it or getting a caligrapher to do it but I can't seem to find the font that was used for my invitation anywhere. Is it bad to use a different font?

I think you're fine using a different font. I'd make sure they are complimentary, but I don't think anyone will care.

I think that mostly everyone will want to open the envelope to see the invitation and most likely get thrown away shortly after opening. I dont think it will be noticed!

It's not bad to use a different font but it is going to look very funny. There are places to go to get a full listing of the fonts if you want to if you have a PC or Mac you can go to Adobe and serach True Type Fonts or call. It really doesn't matter though I'm sure your family and Friends will still have a great time at your wedding. You can also use common graphic design software such Freehand, Illustrator, QuarkXpress, Pagemaker, Microsoft Publisher and Photoshop.

It's not the end of the world if the fonts don't match, it's just nice when they do. Would you be able to post a picture of your invitations/ font? I may be able to identify it for you.

Here's my invite. I know the font in caps is Arial but I think it would be too casual to use that for the envelopes and the closest match to the other font I could find is French Script MT

As a person that knows fonts well, I don't think I could tell you if the font of the last few wedding invitations I received matched their envelopes. Smiley smile It's okay. I would be surprised if a single person noticed.

I had the same dilemma...the answer is no, the basic font goes on the outer envelope so it will be deliverable.
