Does the Bride or the Groom's name go first?

They way I figured it went was this:

Before you're married, the brides:

Invites, Engagement announcements & Engagement party invites, ceremony programs. ETC

After you're married, His

Reception stuff, favors, Announcing of the couple, etc

and Marriage announcements.

FMS, I have heard this as well, but what about things like monograms (which the OP asked about) which are used throughout the wedding (both before and after the ceremony)?

I would say that which ever looks better. Obviously you would use your new last name (if you're taking his) and then what ever looks best.

IE:

s T d (not the best)

d T s (better)

Well, in my case it will definitely be the bride's name going first.... now the big question for me is which bride? LMAO

I make my FH put his name first wherever we can, cause it flows better that way (in my opinion)

LMAO @ Shannon... I'm with FMS. FH and I was having that discussion while working on our site, he swear that his name has to be first, I was like babe not right now, wait till after we're married then it will be you, for now, let me have this. you'll have a lifetime of putting yours first.

Lol @ Patricia. Tell him if he gets impatient, you'll send out and email to all your friends and ask them to always put YOUR name first on any cards, etc. bwah ha haaa.
