Does it matter where you get the marriage license

Louisa, on October 6, 2018 at 10:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 6
We are going to be getting married on the BB Riverboat I think they board on the KY side and we are from around the Dayton, Ohio area so would I have to get my marriage license from KY since that is where it is considered being the address or would I be ok doing it from up around me??

I think you have to have the license from the state/city/county your marriage is performed.

You need to get your license in the state where the ceremony will be

Some states will let you use a marriage license from their state in another as long as one of you has a license in the license's state.

Example: I have an NJ ID but am getting married in SC, i can still use a NJ marriage license.

BUT the state of SC will not allow you to use one of their marriage licenses in another state
