Does anyone know of private homes/manors for rent for ceremony/receptions in the Tampa/Clearwater area??

Jessica, on October 24, 2012 at 12:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

I am running out of time! My fiance and I would like to have an intimate, comfortable, simple yet sophisticated wedding in Clearwater/Tampa in July 2013. We are looking to have 100 or less guests (More than likely we will end up with about 75) . Our preference would be venue that is earthy or has a garden area. We would prefer having and outdoor wedding close to the ocean or a waterway with an indoor area in the event of inclement weather. We would like for the environment to set the tone of the wedding. We are trying to spend less than $8k total. I have been looking for all inclusive packages and same-site venues so that we could have the wedding ceremony and reception in the same location for the convenience of our out of town guests. Tampa/Clearwater is the 1st place we vacationed together so it holds special meaning to us. We are just pressed for time and I am getting desperate to book a venue ASAP! Thanks for your help

Look on vacation rental by owner.

Did you check out some of the places we posted on your other thread? I know Angie was looking at some private homes in St. Petersburg, she might be able to help.

But The Peninsula Inn (www.innspa.net) seems to fit your bill, for the most part. I'm having both my ceremony and reception there in their courtyard, a block away from the water, and I believe they could get a tent if necessary.

I did look at those places and I really like Davis Island Garden Club but on a Fri it is $2000 to rent so I am just trying to see if I can find private homes/manors that might have lower rates. I will look at the Peninsula Inn now. Thanks! :-)

I can tell you right now most regular venues around here will be at least $1000 to rent. I'll see if I can find Angie's post about some of the places she had looked at, see if those help you.

The Peninsula is $500 to rent unless you book rooms (we are taking up the whole place), so we don't have a venue fee. They are very laid back, they answer quickly, but aren't the typical hotel venue, so you know. Smiley smile

Thats a really good rate. I watched the video and they said they could only accommodate 50 guests. Unless it is just out of date? Do you know how many guests you are expecting and did they provide you with a list of preferred vendors?

I'm planning on marrying in the clearwater area, but on the beach. FH wants a wedding on the smaller side and also wanted to do a beach house or something like it. i've searched and searched and searched and there are a few good ideas out there for a casual wedding.

there are a few places i've seen that might interest you -- let me see if i can find my list.

It's out of date, they've done up to 150, and we're having between 90-100. Like I said, they're laid back, so it doesn't surprise me they haven't updated the video (which, BTW, I didn't even know was there, LOL!)

They pretty much do everything in house. They have a restaurant on site, so they cater, they handle rentals if necessary and then just add it to your bill, they have a full bar on site, they have linens if necessary, offer you whatever they have to use if you'd like.

They have some local music talent that plays regularly at their bar, and Alex, the proprietor is a notary and would be able to officiate if necessary. For me, I already had most of these things in place, so I didn't need them, but now that I think about it, they probably could provide you a list of things.

Feel free to PM me with any other questions you might have, in case I don't see this post get updated!

Sunset beach pavilion or sunset vista park - http://www.mytreasureisland.org/recreation/beaches.htm

general areas to look: pass-a-grille, treasure island, indian rocks beach.

i'm having my rehearsal dinner at a place that actually can accommodate a wedding and the reception. they do linens and napkins and silverware and they have a few flexible food plans as well. it's called the black palm restaurant and it's like a block away from the beach in a quieter part of town. if you want some info i can get you a contact number Smiley smile

Try homeaway.com they have listings for homes and condos that are rented for the owners. We are using them for our Hawaii stay and got an incredible rate. Good luck.

Another thing to be mindful of with a private home is parking and space in general. Will there be enough room for rental/catering trucks to get in and out? Is there enough parking for guests? If it's in a residential area, what are the rules about parking (I know in South Tampa, you have to be a resident with a pass to not get towed.)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to the private home idea, I just want you to cover all your bases, just in case.

@TheReenski That is funny. The video must be super old then! lol

@CrystalS I do agree that renting all of the extras will add up. Just wanted to see what other options there might be. :-)

@Angie & Jennifer Thanks I will check out your suggestions

@ Jessica did you ever figure out what you did? Did you rent a private beach house? I am in the same boat. I want to do a wedding on the beach and know of some free locations but I would love to have the reception near and close like at a beach house. Plus I was thinking since we are on a very tight budget to get a little beach house so me and my finance could stay their for a weekend for it. But I am not sure and what I am finding is mostly week special and very small house for the price I want. Also @Angie what were some of the info you passed to her can you please email or let me know that would great.
