Does Anyone Have Any Idea Where to Get a Lesbian Bridal Suit???

Chelsey, on July 14, 2018 at 5:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Hi, y'all!

So, I'm getting married on October 13th of this year. My fiancée and I are both women. I'm going to be wearing a dress, which I already found at the amazing Carrie's Bridal, and my future wife was planning on wearing a suit. She had purchased two from Groupon and was planning on getting them tailored to fit her her better, but the tailor we planned on using said she wasn't going to be able to do it because she didn't have the skill set to tailor a men's suit to a woman's body. So, now my fiancée and I are trying to find a new suit for her to wear. Like I said, our wedding is less than three months out, so I'm kind of freaking out about this. She really wants a navy suit jacket with some nice gray pants. We have found a button-down already and are thinking of getting a maroon tie from Macy's or something to tie the outfit together. I have scoured the internet for ideas already. I've tried to find a local bespoke suit company, and I haven't found any. (We live less than an hour from Atlanta, so I really thought this was going to be easier!) I thought about finding a nice blazer, but because my fiancée is plus-size, this has been hard, too. I literally have no idea what else to do. I need you wonderful ladies' help. I have seen Wedding Wire forums make a huge difference, and they have helped me before, too. So, I really hope you guys can help me here. I desperately need it. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

For context, our wedding is going to be woodland-themed in a way. We are going to be having our ceremony in a fairytale garden, and we will be having our reception in another park that has an outdoor pavilion and an indoor space with modern industrial finishes. Our wedding will be laidback with a taco bar and cupcakes. We are paying for everything ourselves, so we have a small budget that we are trying to stick to. Can anyone help me find my future wife a beautiful suit for her to get married in?????

Hey, Chelsey! Welcome to WeddingWire- you've come to the right place! Smiley heart

We can definitely crack this. First, have you checked out our Vendor Search Tool?

I found a few amazing bridal suits worn by other WeddingWire users, and most had them done by Men's Warehouse! Check out Jamie and Lindsay's photos!

I hope these articles are helpful- there are some great suggestions:

I would look at ready to wear stores like Ann Taylor, JCrew, Banana Republic, or department stores.

I just googled "womens pant suit plus size" and tons of options come up. Macy's has a bunch of grey and navy ones on sale right now starting at $70.

I did “women’s plus size suits” on google & found the same: bottoms, suit tops & blazers. You may just want to play around w/ search but there were many options & you don’t have hard to find colors..goodluck!

Oh my God! Taco bar!!!! Can I come???? Haha just playing. Just wanted to say Congrats and best of luck. I agree that Anne Taylor, Liz Claiborne, banana republic, Macys and places like that are your best move. Navy suits are generally a color readily available (though I know finding something when ure looking for it is the hardest thing)....

I definitely remember seeing this question come up before—I don’t think that bride was plus sized, but it still may have good ideas if you do a search!!! I’m a plus sized lady..,and I’m sure it is difficult. I find that women’s suit options generally aren’t as good as men’s in general, even when I’m looking for work! Does she want white?

Oh duh, I get an F in close reading—I just saw that she wants navy and grey...I still think that link will have some ideas, but my go to places are:
talbots—their stuff is definitely higher quality than most
    nordstrom
    macy’s
also look for Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Jones NY brands...they also sell direct from their website.

    other places to try:
    Eloquii
Loft (they just recently started carrying plus)
    White House Black Market

Thank you, everyone, for your amazing suggestions!!! You have no idea how much I appreciate your help and advice!!!!

I'm definitely going to look at all the places everyone has listed. I do have a question for anyone who mentioned Men's Warehouse: Do they tailor suits to women? My FW has gotten suit jackets from there, but I didn't know they tailor! Would they be able to tailor a suit to my FW in time for our wedding? Does anyone know off the top of their heads?

Thanks again for all of your help, everyone!

LOL! You are certainly welcome to come!!! My FW's family is from Mexican, and they know how to throwdown in the kitchen. They make some of the best tacos I've ever had! Plus, my future aunt-in-law is the one who's cooking and she used to have her own restaurant. It was definitely the bomb dot com! Lmao, thank you so much for your well wishes though and your help! I appreciate it!
