I would google “Marriage requirements in Greece” and look for an official government website from there. I’ve been doing this as I search for our DW location. It will tell you the country’s marriage requirements - what docs do they need to bring with them? What language do the docs need to be in? Residency requirements (How many days prior to the wedding does the couple need to arrive in country to establish residency before applying for a marriage license?)

I can’t speak to the religious aspects of your question, but her priest should be able to help her with that or at least point her in the right direction!

Hey Dena! Welcome to the WeddingWire community!

Are you having a destination wedding in Santorini? That sounds amazing!!

If your family is Greek Orthodox, would anyone know what documents would typically be required?

Are you working with a wedding planner in Santorini? I would imagine that they would know the necessary documentation for a destination wedding in Greece.

You should also look up the Greek government website as they would have details of what you need to get married in the country.

As far as I know, you’ll need typical legal documentation (birth certificate, passport), as well as baptismal certificates. But definitely double check because it might be different getting married Greek Orthodox in Greece versus here in America. Syncharitíria!
