Do you wear your engagement ring down the aisle?

LOL I feel like this is a stupid question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. Are you supposed to wear your e-ring down the aisle, or does your S.O. place both the e-ring and wedding band on your finger during the ceremony? Or is it personal preference? This is why I ask. I haven't gotten my rings...

This is why I ask. I haven't gotten my rings soldered. I planned on it, but relatives convinced me not to (but I may after the wedding, if I still prefer it). My wedding band is a guard/wrap, so the e-ring will sit between the two bands. FH can't exactly just slide the wedding band onto my finger without me taking the e-ring off during the ceremony.

The Best Man will be holding onto our rings. Should I just let him hold onto my e-ring as well? Or simply remove the e-ring during the ring exchange and have FH place it in the guard before sliding the rings onto my finger?

I'm not getting a second ring so I will be bare fingers until he puts the ring back on during the ceremony.

I'm planning on wearing mine on my right hand, then flipping it on top of my wedding band on my left hand afterwards.

I wore my e-ring on my right hand and switched it over after the ceremony.

When my sister was married I had her engagement ring (I was MOH) during the ceremony and gave it back to her afterwards. I will probably do the same

I had one of my bridesmaids hold it/wear it during the ceremony and put it back on after.

I have a very special ring that I've wore on my right hand since middle school so switching my e ring to the right hand was not an option for me. I wore it on my left hand and H put band on top, then after ceremony I switched them

I was totally wondering about this too but I honestly am probably just going to wear my ering and have him put the band on...also I am curious is there a reason why the band is suposed to be on the inside, I always figured since you got the ering first it would go on the inside and your band on the outside cause now you're actually married and can wear both...literally have no clue so if I just said something horribly stupid be nice to me lol

Everyone saying to wear it down on your right hand, have you actually tried this?! Mine doesn't fit, I had my ring sized to fit my left finger...

@Gymrat has the best and simplest idea here.

@Janina, I've heard that the wedding band goes onto the inside because it's "closest to your heart."

@Jillian, yea same! It won't fit on my right hand because my ring is too small for it.

@Janina I'm also curious about swapping the placement of the rings. I thought I would simply wear my engagement ring down the aisle and FH would put the wedding band on and that would be it.

Is anybody going to do it that way because it's what makes sense, or is there some importance to putting the band on before the engagement ring other than the "close to your heart" thing?

I was planning on wearing it on my right hand but my FH told me that in his culture that's bad luck so idk what I'm going to do now. lol I will definitely lose it if I don't wear it

We put them on at the same time- my photographer took them both to take pictures for the whole set. I totally forgot about the rings till we got up there and officiate started talking about rings and I was like SHIT WHERE ARE MY RINGS.

We incorporated both rings into the ceremony so I didn't have anything on my left hand when I walked down the aisle.

H placed the wedding band on and then placed the engagement ring on to seal the promise that brought us there. Or something like that. It was very sweet.

Such a good post. So many things you don't even think about. Pretty sure my ring doesn't fit on my right hand, so I'm not sure that should be the default suggestion, but everyone is different! I would probably have him put it on top of my E ring and flip them after but maybe we will try different things once we have my wedding band
