Do you tip your venue?

Kamilah, on March 3, 2016 at 9:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

So my venue has already been amazing with going above and beyond with accommodating my requests.

We have kind of like a coordinator that was assigned and she has been great. I want to tip her after the wedding but I'm not sure if that's normal or how I would even really do it?

Do you guys have any suggestions?

I would tip someone who went above and beyond like your coordinator.

So far I do not plan on it. The lady who owns our venue and is supposed to help us with the planning is so hard to contact. Unless she goes above and beyond expect ions.

WW just came out with an awesome budget guide that has a whole section on tipping:

For planners here is the recommendation: "Wedding planners don't usually receive tips, but if your feel yours went above and beyond, you may tip 10 to 20 percent".

Since this is the venue coordinator and not really a wedding planner, and you don't have separate charges just for the planning instead of the full venue charge, you might have to get a little creative Smiley smile Anything from a hand-written thank you note, to an amazing review, to a bottle of wine, to a $100-$200 tip would be great!

All tips are covered in our contract. I do plan on sending a bottle of wine and a thank you note along with leaving amazing reviews. We were told they cannot accept tips otherwise.

Awesome! Thank you guys so much for your help! I was already going to write her a thank you note but I think I'll include a tip or send her a gift as well!

My venue includes it in the cost, 20%

A 20% fee is usually not a tip. Ask your venue flat out if it's a tip or the salary for the people working your wedding. Usually it's the latter.

Thank you notes, wine, great reviews; all work!

I think going above and beyond (no matter what service or if they person owns their own business or not) should be recognized. It doesn't have to be in the form of a cash (and it is never expected). A hand-written note, an amazing review, a gift card or bottle of wine are all lovely (and again never expected) ways to show that you see that they went to great lengths to ensure you had an amazing day/

Our venue doesn't include it, but I do love the edible arrangements idea! That would be perfect. Unfortunately wine is too risky here in salt lake as I'm not sure if my coordinator is Mormon or not.
