Do you regret not spending enough on your dress?

I've gone to two salons to try on gowns. Found one at David Bridal's that I love but it's at the top of my budget (before alteration costs). Went to a different salon and found more affordable options rhat I like but not more than the DB dress. Did anyone go decide to go for the less expensive gown...

If anything I wish I would have spent less than $500 dollars haha Smiley smile but I love my dress and I literally spent an extra twenty minutes at my fitting just staring at myself until they kicked me out haha Smiley smile

Well, I went in with a budget of $1200 for dress + alterations. I said $900 was my max and of course they brought out a $1000 dress for me to try on that was PERFECT. It's still under the budget technically but there's no way I'm getting alterations for just $200. I figure I can cut back a little more on spending and pick up more overtime, though so it's not like I broke the bank.

Nope my dress certainly cost a ton after alterations so I wish I could have saved more. I wanted a beautiful dress (which I got) but didn't want this to be a huge expense for the wedding. My dress and alterations cost me in total just over $1000.

Nope. My dress was perfect and part of the reason it was perfect was the price point.

No I was actually thrilled I loved a dress that was under my budget. I didn't even look at the prices when I tried them on honestly.

There's a dress I tried on at David bridal that I really did like and it was on sale for a amazing price. I went to another bridal shop and tried on the dress I've been eyeing for two years now and instantly fell in love and it was double the price of the first one I tried. I splurged and spent the extra money

I went in knowing my budget and tried on 1 dress that was way over budget and hated it. My dress was only 55.00 over budget but as soon as i put it on I knew it was the one. When I walked out of the dressing room everyone that was with me knew it also. I habe no regrets. I talked with FH about it since it was more than we had planned and he told me if its what i wanted and I was happy then he was happy.

I went slightly under budget and I loved my dress. Now it's lying around being sad doing nothing. I'm actually glad I didn't spend more. It's still by far the most expensive item of clothing I ever bought and it did it's job of being beautiful for pictures... but it's also just a dress, and one that I only wore once at that.

We splurged on DH's suit, though. At least he gets to wear it again!

Its definitely not what you spend on your dress, but how you look and feel in it. Certainly you have to set a budget, but if you can afford it, who cares if you spend $10,000 or $10? So long as you feel beautiful who cares??

For the record, I only spent $170 on a brand new dress. It was beautiful, made me feel beautiful, and DH thought so too.

I spent $3000 on mine, not including alterations and accessories and undergarments. No way in hell I'd spend more than that! It's so so gorgeous though

I love my dress. Thing is, my mother's dress for my brother's wedding was more expensive than my wedding dress. I was thinking, how many people at my wedding will have a more expensive dress than me. I love my dress though. Every dress I tried on and loved was from the same designer (essence of Australia) and they run in the 500-2ks price range. I wouldn't trade my dress. I just hope my mother doesn't over top my day as she thinks it's her day already... Eh

I had originally budgeted $1500 for my dress. And that's not a lot IMO. I tried on dresses at a few salons, at least 15 different dresses. I went to a bridal event in our local bridal district and found my gown for $300. It's amazing and beautiful. I love it more than anything I tried on. It's from a salon that sales off the rack so it's a popular designer that I love but for a fraction of the cost. I guess my point is, shop around and LOVE what you get.

I tried on a dress that was STUNNING. l felt like a supermodel. I cried like a baby...then looked at the price tag of $2,000 which was WAY over budget for us. I went home, slept on it, and decided that I couldn't see myself spending that much money on a dress that I will wear for one day. Determined that I would find a beautiful dress that was in our budget, I continued my search and found a dress for $600 that was much simpler and in budget. The best part? It was so comfortable and I felt beautiful! I could truly see myself walking down the isle in the dress that was in budget. Couldn't be happier with my decision. I do not regret anything.

Thank you for the insight everyone.

I can definitely afford the more expensive dress. The two sides of my brain like to debate alot. lol

I think I'm going to keep looking for more affordable options like bridal samples. I found a few used dresses on ebay that I liked.

I saw a dress twice the cost of mine when I went to pick mine up before the alterations and almost exchanged it. It was flipping gorgeous but I decided I'm always going to see prettier dresses so I kept mine. I try not to look anymore!

I actually have the opposite, surprisingly. I regret spending too much on my dress! I'm not sure the total, but with alterations (which were minor--let the waist out just a smidge and add a double bustle is all) m, cathedral veil, and blingy sash, I think I ended up in the range of $2800-$3000. It was my moms gift to me, and she never told me a budget beforehand (despite my asking), so we just tried on dresses. I love my dress, but I just feel like I could've found something similar for half the cost.

I had a lot of dress regret when I bought mine - and thought maybe I should have gone to a boutique and just spent 2k on something that would be "the dress of my dreams". After everything, and $385 in alterations (almost the cost of the dress) I do love it, and I think I might have regretted spending more.
