No. Unless the venue has a dress code required for entry, don't mention it on the invites. The default dress code for weddings is semi formal..basically Sunday best.

If you have a website or if people ask you then you could suggest something

These days, attire almost always goes on the website unless you're having a black tie wedding. I would put it on your wedding website

    Put it on the invitation!

You’d be surprised with how people dress – I’ve been to a black tie wedding where people have turned up in jeans.

We’re having a black tie wedding and we’ve put on the bottom of our invitations ‘black tie attire’ (we aren’t doing a website, not a fan of it).

I’m having my wedding at a barn on a cranberry bog it’s rustic but romantic. So it’s def a little more formal over cocktail attire or that’s what I would want people to show up in

I don’t think I’m doing a website cause half the people wouldn’t look at it anyways. I def am not a black tie affair but dressed better than cocktail attire

You would think you wouldn’t have to do this but I’ve seen some pretty cringe worthy pictures out there of people showing up to weddings looking like they were going out to Walmart to shop for groceries. If this is important to you, put it on there!

Oh it’s very important to me for everyone to look their best. Jeans is not an option neither is Walmart attire lol

Then do it! Here was a friends wedding and this is what the mother of the groom wore to it. Everything about her wedding was so pretty but the way she and a few others dressed really hurt the overall feel of it being an elegant wedding. Do you put wedding attire on invitations 1

OMG I would DIE! She literally ruined the vibe by dressing like she really just didn’t care. Everything else looks SO nice

It's inappropriate to mention attire on your invitations unless you're having a black tie or white tie event. Your venue and invitation should indicate the formality of the event.

I actually realized that "cocktail attire" was written on my invitations. Lol. I think it's better that way because you never know what people will show up in.

I think it is acceptable to have a small note on bottom of invitations stating formal, or black tie attire ect. If there is no website to check, than I personally would appreciate seeing that. I hate not knowing how formal to dress! No one wants to be over or under dressed lol

Theres nothing Wrong With Mentioning Dress Attire On Your Invitations. I Personally Posted in On Our Wedding Website But I Dont See How It Is Inappropriate Or Rude To Put It On Invites.

I would definitely put it on the invite or a separate insert card in case someone or a group of people/family members are not tech savvy. We're having a black tie optional or creative black tie (haven't decided yet) and that will be on the bottom of our invite.

I feel like if I don’t say something they won’t think to dress up !! They might just come in regular clothes because my venue is a barn
