Do you and/or your fiancé have children?

My FH has a daughter from a previous relationship who is 7. She is going to be our flower girl and I think I am also going to say a small vow to her during our ceremony to show that I'm not only commiting to him but we're becoming a family as well. Is anyone else doing anything special to include...

    I have a 6 (almost 7) year old daughter who will be a jr bride and we have two sons (well one isn't quite here yet) together. We're going to do the sand ceremony with them, present them with gifts and maybe done kind of small vow. Haven't decided on the vows part yet.

    My FH has a 9 year old son. He lives with his mother in CA. He spends his summers with us and we would like to incorporate him into the vows in some way. We are also doing unity sand with him pouring a color. My FH and I are also doing a lovelock that will be unity for just him and I.

    FWIW I think it's AMAZING that all 4 parents are civil and co-parenting.

    FH and I have a daughter together. She will be a little over 2 atthe time of the wedding so she will be our flower girl.

    My FH has a son whose 4 and we have a daughter whose 14 month. We are having his son be our rein bearer and daughter flower girl. Our wedding hopefully will be outside and we all have our own color of sand for sand ceremony. To join our family as one!

    @Sarah

    "I don't understand why her mom would ever be upset about me promising to love her like my own. I could mention it to her but I know she won't mind."

    Because she will always be the child's mom and you will not replace her. It can be VERY sensitive. I have a good relationship with my step-daughter mom and she and my husband are great with coparenting with all 4 of us involved as much as possible. BUT, I will neeeeeeeever replace her Mom. One thing I learned that was upsetting her was asking her daughter to clean something up (nicely) while her mom was there. She felt that I overstepped my bounds a little and she felt silly about it but guess what? Now I'm much more careful about making sure she is comfortable with my influence on her daughter.

    It's much more sensitive to some people than others for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with how much she likes you.

    I have older sons - 18 & 21. I'm hoping they'll walk me down the aisle. Not sure about a unity ceremony including them, though, since it's not like we're going to be under one roof afterward. Although, the 18 yo really wants to walk me ... IF he can wear a Spidey mask. LOL! I love him. <3

    @Kate that woman sounds insane. If I asked her to clean something while her mom was there her mom would tell her to hop to it! I'm really only looking for ceremony input not parenting and relationship advice, thank you.
