Do we need to serve appetizers???

BK'sGIRL, on April 30, 2010 at 1:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

We are starting the ceremony at 4pm and dinner will be serverd around 5:30pm. There will be drinks and mingling between the ceremony and dinner, should I serve appetizers during this time? It's not a question about money, because our dinner is only $13 pp I could easily throw in some apptetizers... But I don't know what?!?!?!

Here is our menu for our recpetion dinner:

BBQ Ribs

BBQ Chicken

BBQ Salmon

Ceaser Salad

Dinner Salad

Baked Beans

Mac and Cheese

Corn Bread

Dinner Rolls

PLEASE HELP!!!

I am having simple appetizers such as cheese, pep, crackers, a fruit tray, a veggie tray etc. just so people can snack in between the ceremony and the reception. I thought it would keep them satisfied until we serve dinner. :-)

Are you putting the appetizers together yourself or are you having your caterer do it for you? I would asume they would overcharge for these simple items. Is that accurate to assume?

I think that there is no need for appitizers, your Ceremony is at 4, and that will take 30-45 minutes dependeing on how soon you start and how long your ceremony is, so your guests will hhave 45 minutes to 1 hour to wait fo rfood, you don't want them filling up on apps and then not eating the dinner because they're full, Are you taking your photos before the ceremony?

Yes, we will be taking pics before the ceremony. But we will also be taking them after with all the family and close friends.

    Thanks you guys!

If you're going to serve drinks, you definitely need to serve food. You can keep it light--cheese and crackers or vegetable trays or something--but you don't want people drinking for an hour without eating.
