Do we need to have the champagne / wine toast?

Do we need to have the champagne / wine toast? Or can guests use their own drinks? I'm not trying to sound cheap, but we are on a tight budget and it's $5.50 a glass. I know whenever I've gone to weddings most people do not drink it, so do I have to offer it? Thoughts?

A milk toast... Better keep that idea away from my FH, lol.

We're not big drinkers, probly just going to have whatever is in hand.

We decided to do the Champagne toast at our rehearsal dinner and the wedding night people can toast with what is in their hands.

Having seen over 400 receptions, I would guess only about 25-30% do champagne for the whole room. More often than not, I see a bottle or two for the head table (Bride, Groom, and Bridal Party) and everyone else toasts with the drink they have. I have never thought a bride and groom were being cheap for not giving champagne to everyone.

It's fine to have people toast with whatever people have in hand.

I'm personally not a big fan of champagne, so probably do it with wine. We enjoy sweeter wine, so it'll be like champagne. All of our other guests can toast with whatever will be in their hand.
